Works well but breaks easily [Posted on 2008-06-03] Works well but it broke after only using it 5-10 times. I turned it up to the top setting and I think it overheated. Also, the plastic between the top/bottom is somewhat fragile and it broke off in a few places.
Cute and Useful [Posted on 2008-06-03] The humidifier makes a little noise, but all in all it works great. I enjoy it and it's definitely cute!
Cool and Quiet! [Posted on 2008-06-05] I bought this for my little girl's room and it's pretty darn cool. It runs so quiet that I couldn't tell it was working at first. Waaaay better than the last humidifier I had, which sounded like a jet engine. The water vapor comes out the top of SpongeBob's head in a fine mist and it has 3 different settings. The best part is the cool night light that makes his entire head glow from within. The only down side is that the light only works when the humidifier is running. It's easy to fill and clean the tank (it has a built in carrying handle)and it's been working great. I'd recommend it.
Might be cute, but the humidifier fails after 2 month [Posted on 2008-06-14] I bought the penguin humidifier when my daughter had a cold. My wife and I picked it out, because it was cute, and a decent price.
Every time we filled it, (and yes we followed all instructions with the unit) the output knob had to be adjusted, so that mist would come out. This just kept getting worse and worse. After about 60 days (using it only at night) the unit quit working.
Evidently Crane does not exist on the internet, nor can you actually find who makes these units, to try to get a replacement.
All in all a complete waste of $30. Dont get it. Get something more expensive, and a brand name you can trust.
Leaks like a seive [Posted on 2008-06-17] As a humidifier, this gadget does the job well. However, trying to fill or move the humidifier will result in drenched feet. The main reservoir is shoddily constructed, and the plastic fits together poorly at the top of the device. So when you remove the reservoir and turn it over in order to fill it, any water remaining (which there'll always be) pours out the seals at the top.
I'd recommend finding a different humidifier. However, you could get lucky and pick one of these up that doesn't leak... This device'd be 5-starred if I'd been so lucky. ;)
