My New Favorite Board Game! [Posted on 2008-01-16] I was skeptical at first, but this game has something for everyone. Creative people will probably enjoy it more because of all the drawing, humming, charades, and sculpting. The non creative categories involve answering trivia questions, solving anagrams, and spelling words backwards. But the questions are not as hard as, say, Trivial Pursuit. The game is challenging and fun, but does require a knowledge of pop culture. I would say that this game would be best enjoyed by people aged 25 to 55, and who possess average or above average intelligence. The uber-geniuses might be bored, and the non creative would definitely feel tortured. This game is also best played by a larger number of people. The minimum you need is 4 players (2 teams of 2) but having teams of 3 people is better.
Enjoyable [Posted on 2008-01-20] Love playing this game with my family. It is so much fun as well as educational.
Good improvement over original [Posted on 2008-01-21] Cranium Turbo edition is a great improvement over the original. The main advantages are that the whole game tends to move faster, largely because you don't get stuck on one color space like you could in the first version, and great new categories that encourage more team members to participate. Good examples are the marionette-like charades, and a team-based Gnilleps (in contrast to the single player based type). Lastly, Humdingers are much easier now, using many youngsters' songs that more people will recognize (e.g., The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round) and not obscure pop songs.
The only con I have to mention is the timer. I'm not a big fan of electronic devices to needlessly simulate dice and a sandglass, but some of my friends think that it is an improvement.
Fun Had By All [Posted on 2008-05-05] This is a great game to play in a group, both individually and/or in teams. I had this game shipped to my daughter's dorm room at NYU and she now hosts Cranium Nights! The game requires a certain amount of luck, strategy and skill, and the participants need to be able to make fools of themselves in order to act out the various loopy challenges. OUr family is very competitive and this is our favorite board game (other than scrabble)! Hope you enjoy it as well! Cheers!
Great game [Posted on 2008-10-21] Cranium series is one of the best games int he market, and it is full of fun for the whole family. This is definitely a must have for any family looking for some silly fun for 20-30 minutes
