Excellent sound for the price, very high value [Posted on 2007-11-15] The sound is excellent, good bass (unless you are looking for hip hop style heavy thumping), excellent treble and mids. Volume high enough to hurt this old rock-n-roller's ears. Plugs in easy, set up fine. Software that comes with it is so so. I prefer to use other SW to tune the sound. I can't think of anything that could beat this at the price point.
Great 7.1 on a budget [Posted on 2007-12-08] Actually it's the only 7.1 I could find under 400 bucks.
The sound isn't too bad from the small sattelites and the sub is more than adequate for gaming.
Music, I'll stick to my home theatre, but it doesn't sound bad... just not amazing.
Overall a very good set of speakers, especially for gamers. As far as I know quality/price ratio can't be beat.
Awsome sound [Posted on 2008-03-26] Amazingly wonderful sound covering the whole room. Great for gamers, although might upset the neighbors if cranked up. LOL
Okay sound, disappointing performance [Posted on 2008-03-27] I purchased this product in Dec. '05. It worked okay for 2 years, but I was never able to get full 7.1 sound out of it, even when paired with a Creative Soundblaster Audigy card. After 2 years, the speakers stopped working one day. Creative only offers a 12 month limited warranty to I was SOL.
In summary - Creative makes good speakers, but be warned that they may not last long.
I'd give it five except you must boost the bass for good RMS effect [Posted on 2008-04-25] because of my stupid silly neighbors(who complain at my 1/4 volumne) I must only give it 4 stars. It is because if you play at even a quarter volumne you must boost the bass quite a bit to get worthwhile sound in games. Music is terrible but I am using it in conjunction with a Xtreme X-fi and it must be carefully configured for music on Youtube or even a CD using a player like Creative's own. Media player is awful but that is not the fault of these speakers. The price is good(why I did not go down to 3 stars). If you are a casual gamer(and don't like high-end games like "Avencast Rise of the Mages) you will be adequetly provided for your sound needs, if however you play FPS's or other sound oriented games, crank it up and move to the country! voice-over quality is also horrid, w/o bass(and the sub is good) you get no quality at all in anything! You will have to set bass boost or you get shrill and hissy trebles in everything!(with or without "crystalization" enabled in the case of X-fi's drivers) Why even "Bone: Out of Boneville" from Telltale gets a complaint because of "bass" like right, ha!-a little kid's game and the neigh boars complain!
that's the news and I'm stick'n with it!
