Creative Labs Travelsound 250 travel speaker system [Posted on 2008-08-30]
This speaker is small and lightweight. The sound is remarkable. I liked it so much, I bought 2 more - I keep one in my bathroom so I can use my MP3 player while taking a shower and I have one on my computer at home and one on my computer at work.

Good sound and loud [Posted on 2008-09-03]
I bought this to take with me to hotels on trips, it works great! High quality sound and plenty loud for a single room. I got an old 5 volt wall adapter and it worked that way as well.

One thing is I had new batteries in it and used it on my trip then came home and plugged it in to the adapter and used it that way for a couple of days in my bedroom. When I unplugged it after only a couple of days on the wall adapter the batteries were dead? So now I know to pull one battery when I am using at home.

I am very happy with these speakers.

Good for the price, some bad points [Posted on 2008-09-17]
I paid $8 for this speaker, currently the price is $15, and looking at other reviews, it seems the price fluctuates quite a bit on this product. The original price of $80 for this is outrageous, and I'd be very dissapointed if I had paid that, but for $8, I'm pretty happy. But frankly I don't think it's worth more than $20.

The speaker is small, about the size of a thick pencil case, and comes with a black velvet pouch for carrying it in. It takes 4 AAA batteries, which is annoying to me. But then again, I just wish that everything took AA batteries. It has a port for connecting to a universal power adapter, but doesn't come with the adapter, so that's another option if you have one lying around unused.

It will seemingly connect to any device that has a headphone jack, and comes with the needed cord. I like this over the typical mp3 speakers where you have to insert your player. Which is usually a problem if your mp3 player is an odd size or you have a silicone protector sleeve, which you need to take off to stick it into the speaker. So I like this arrangement much better.

Sound: I was very surprised by how loud it can get, that's a valuable quality with a small speaker. The volume buttons are extremely cumbersome to use. I recommend just turning the sound up all the way on the speaker once and then using the volume control on your mp3 player to control the sound in the future. Sound is pretty good, but lacks the 'depth' that you get with a larger speaker. Not a problem for me, but might jar the ear of a music buff.

For their size and incredibly discounted price, these are not bad speakers. I tote them with me to use when working on location. They're a bit heavy for constant schlepping, but at least have a modicum of bass response. Unlike some other small speakers, at least you know there IS bass on the recording. A very good deal and acceptable/decent sound.

PREFECT TRAVEL SPEAKERS [Posted on 2008-10-07]
A friend showed these speakers and I was so impressed that I bought my own. So there's the skinny on the travelsound 250:

PROS: cosmetically it looks sleek and comes with a nice velvety type of soft case. Its easy to operate and produces a great sound for such a small device. I was really suprised of the sound. It sounds much better then my laptop speakers.

CONS: does not come with a ac power supply. But you can pick one up at walmart for about $10. Also if you don't have the ac power adaptor you have to use batteries which you will be going through batteries (requires 4) fast if you use it alot. I have a set of rechargeable batteries when I take it on the road. Some sound distortion when played at full blast or if running on battery power and the batteries are running out of juice.

THE SKINNY: I would highly recommend these speakers. No there not going to cut it for mega dance parties but if you want to have tunes while lying on the beach or when you go camping these work awesome! comes with a jack to hook up to an ipod, or mp3 player. Some places might have these speakers listed for $40-50 if you wait a bit and keep checking you can get them for under $20.
