I bought this a few weeks ago from a computer shop. It is a very low cost good performance speaker.
When I was about to buy this speaker, I was able to test it using a pc with an audigy soundcard. It sounded great, I wasn't really able to test it at very high volume. I didn't notice that the bass becomes distorted at high levels until I brought it to my apartment where I was able to play it loud enough. At first I was disappointed because the bass didn't sound as good as my creative sbs370 which has a very smooth tight bass. But after a few weeks of long hours of use, I've learned that I can get the best effect when setting the bass level at only 20%, pointing to the second dot in the bass volume knob. At this level, the bass is sufficient enough to fill a moderately sized room at high volume level, and a small room at a mid volume level. But if you're going to use it with your dvd player, you can try increasing the bass level a bit further. I think this speaker is a great deal for its price. But if you want a really good sounding speaker without any compromise, you should spend more and get the kinds of altec 621, or megaworks, or klipsch promedia. Though they are a quite more pricey, they really sound awesome.

I've never had anything other than the lowest of low speakers on my computer ($10) and my pets broke the last set. I "splurged" on this inexpensive/midlevel set because I'm familiar and satisfied with the Creative brand. Well, I have to say WOW! I plugged these in and set volume and bass on medium and blew the door off my office when I played a song! It sounds like I hooked up a great stereo by the sound. I'm so impressed. Also, as a bonus, the shipping was so fast and I'm nothing but thrilled!

It tucks away next to my desk and creates great sounding bass and the tones are rather clear for the satellite speakers.

I got these to use with my iPod at the office. My boss was trying to talk me into getting a Bose Sound Dock - but I got these instead. And I'm sure glad I did.

I'm no audio expert, but I like my music, and I listen to it a lot, so I'm looking for a good crisp sound with a nice defined bass.

For me the best test of speakers is if they can give you good fidelity and a genuine Bass feel at low volumes - and these speakers pass that with flying colors.

Having said these, they pack plenty of punch if you crank them up. I keep the bass knob midway, and they sound just great. And they're such a great price I'm planing to get a couple more to keep around the house so I can plug in my iPod whereever I am.

I've had these speakers for three years and decided to write this because I'm still so impressed with them. As a college student, I haven't taken the best care of the speakers because I move a lot and like to drag them around, but they've held up so well, I can't tell the difference between now and when they were brand new. I can't say that for most products under 50 bucks! And the bass makes everything on my desk shake, even when it's not turned up all the way. One of the best purchases I've made.
