***windows vista users beware*** [Posted on 2007-09-25] i gave the creative lab webcam instant one star, not based on its performance, but on its compatability with my operating system. i contacted creative lab and there are no current plans on developing any drivers for windows vista. i'm upset, considering that vista is such a widely used operating system. i haven't actually used the product, nonetheless, it shall receive a one-star rating based on the companies insensitivity.
Actually, it works just fine in Vista [Posted on 2008-01-25] It works just fine in Vista, contrary to what I read here and in other places on the Internet. Installing the drive under Vista wasn't as straightforward as it might have been though. Here's how I did it: plug the Creative VF-0040 Webcam Instant into your PC. Vista will ask you to search the Internet for drivers -- let it do this. It'll search for a while and finally end up asking you to put the driver CD in the drive. Do this too. After that, you should get a message saying that the driver was successfully installed.
I've tested it in the Creative WebCam Center application and in Skype -- worked fine in both places.
I can't say much else about the WebCam because I did all of this for a friend, but it hopefully clears up the misconception that it does not work under Vista.
Does work on Vista [Posted on 2008-04-27] I can confirm it works fine on Vista... It was installed on XP, then I upgraded to Vista. When I plugger the webcam back in, it went trough the "find new drivers" bit, then showed at working OK.
