Must be imaginative to use. [Posted on 2008-01-30] The book has great examples of sketches but don't be fooled into thinking the sample layouts are going to show great ideas for using each sketch. You really need to be creative. If you are a beginner scrapper than the samples shown will help.
What I really like are the tips given on most pages called 'Idea to note' and 'Design Tip'. These have great suggestions and explanations of what and why certain products were used in a layout.
I gave this book one less star because of how many ads it contains. I have a subscription to CK magazine and pay a low annual price because of ads. This is a book that cost as much as a mag subscription so what's the need for all the ads??
This might be the only scrapbook reference you need... [Posted on 2008-03-04] Most scrapbooks have pretty pictures of pages made with the latest papers and embellishments. You might find an idea or two that suits you and you tear out those pages and throw the rest of the book or magazine away. This book is completely different - you will want to keep the whole thing and refer to it again and again. First, it starts with a sketch - where to place your pictures, embellishments etc. Then it shows pictures of how that sketch was used on actual scrapbook pages - some are literal translations of the sketch and some offer variations on the theme. The sketches are intended for a 2 page layout using a scrapbook 8 1/2" x 11" or larger. Best of all, there are chapters for sketches using 4-5 photos, 6 photos, 7, 8, 9 and 10+ photos. So once you have an idea of the number of photos you want to use, then you refer to that specific chapter for ideas. Then, at the very end of the book, the entire collection of sketches is reprinted so you can take them all in at a glance. Trust me, this book is a keeper!!!
Wonderful ideas! [Posted on 2008-03-22] This booklet contains wonderful ideas for scrapbooking pages to help you get out of a rut. It not only has sketches, but you can see samples of what some people did by just tweaking a few things. A great buy for scrapbookers!
Disappointed [Posted on 2008-03-26] I knew from the reviews that this was essentially an ad-filled magazine, but I thought the layouts would make up for it.
All of the layouts in the book, with the exception of the cover layout, are for four or more photos. As someone who rarely scraps more than two photos to a page, and most likely one, I was very disappointed. I'm returning it immediately.
Another excellent source for page layouts!! [Posted on 2008-04-30] I love all the various page layouts especially categorized by the number of pictures used for the layouts. I'm always looking for new ideas and this takes each layout and provides many alternatives. I also have the second volume and enjoy it just as much!
