It's still tickin' [Posted on 2008-01-15] I bought this player 2 years ago and am still loving it! Once you get the hang of operating it (I am not tech savvy and it didn't take too long) it is very easy. My 5 year old has no problem using this player either. She has her own folder on my player so that she can be just like her big sis.
The only problem I have is that to find a particular song, you either skip through every song until you find the one you are looking for or go to the menu and search through the folders.
Loading it up is simple...just copy and paste! If you copy a song and paste it, you just get that song (songs are named in the player the same as on the computer when pasting). If you copy and paste a folder, then the same folder is on the player.
I bought one of these players for my 14 yr old daughter 1 year ago. She uses hers more than I do and she still loves it!
Unlike my daughter, I could not stand the earbuds that came with this player. They were very uncomfortable in my ears. If they stayed in, they hurt but most of the time they would fall out anyway.
I purchased Sony Soft Earbuds - White Model #: SON MDREX71SLAW from Circuit City for about $50. On the expensive side, but very definitely worth every penny. I could not get them away from my boyfriend, so I bought him a pair as well.
I also just purchased the Creative TravelDock 900 Docking Speaker for this player to listen to at work. I have not received it yet though.
Over all I believe you cannot go wrong with this player and have recommended it to anyone looking to buy a mp3 player.
pretty good for when it was introduced, there's better choices now [Posted on 2008-04-30] just FYI, i bought this more than a year ago
+ves
sound quality - excellent
navigation - sensible
FM reception - nice
loads of features
size and looks - compact & i think looks cool
-ves
doesn't play wav files, tho it says wav is supported
doesn't support wma lossless or wma pro
wma files take more battery life, and high bitrate files take huge battery life, which is bad for audiophiles
other points
mic is very receptive, so if u're singing, then don't hold it too close or u'll distort
overall
feature-packed and bang-for-the-buck, but file format support leaves a lot to desire.
there's better choices now, some that don't require a cable for USB.
also, most standard multimedia cellphones (costing <$200) offer all these features, so what's the need for a separate gadget for that?
Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 GB MP3 Player (Blue) [Posted on 2008-05-31] The item was exactly as discribed and arrived in good condition. I would gladly buy from this seller again...anytime!
depends on what you use it for [Posted on 2008-10-04] I love this thing. My needs are simple: music, educational mp3's, news, a harddrive to store microsoft word and excel files. It won't get you mugged like an Ipod will. I used white headphones with it and some teenagers beat me up and screamed "Give me the Ipod!". As soon as they saw it was my old zen they gave it back! If you live in an urban environment NEVER use white headphones! Sound is decent but won't blow you away. I am very happy with my purchase and would buy it again except I've just seen models here at Amazon with 2 gigs and similar features for much less money. How can the price still be the same after two years?
***Versatile, easy to use, tuner and voice recorder also!*** [Posted on 2008-10-09] I Bought this unit a few years ago, when I went to buy it, I was actually looking for a portable CD player which can play mp3 CD's. I couldn't find one at a big electronics retailer so I called one of my younger friends who told me that I could get a flash player. I'm glad I got this unit. It weighs almost nothing, holds a few hundred songs, very easy to load onto, being picked up by my laptop as an external drive. One really neat thing I do is I record using the record function, put it on my computer and burn a CD or send the wav file via email. Very cool! I think an Ipod may be better but I don't like the fact you MUST use itunes for the ipod. I like this piece. I am very picky with electronics and recommend this if you need something simple and versatile. Battery life's pretty good, a week listening every day on my daily commute to and from work. Love the indigo light, definately, consider it.
