Don't buy this [Posted on 2004-05-26] Once every few seconds, there is a blast of static. This is not a true review, but don't waste your money.
Very good, I would have payed more. [Posted on 2005-11-26] I got these set of speakers, the day after thanksgiving sale at office depot for only 13$ us.
They are pretty amazing, even though it has only has a max output of 26 watts. The bass is rich, and the treble released by the two flat panel speakers are rich. I don't even have a good sound card, im using on-board audio. Im amazed, that my on-board audio could be this good!
With a good soundcard these speakers could be alot better.
They also look pretty nice. The two blue led lights on each flat planel speaker are pretty cool, especially with a gaming PC. The two flat panel speakers, look sweet. They also take up hardly any room.
The size of the subwoofer is pretty small, yet I'm surprised by the quality of the bass. Good things come in small packages =)
The install, and setup of these speakers toke me 2 minutes. Plug and Play at it's best.
I would definatley recommend these to anyone from, speaker experts to beginners.
Thumbs Up [Posted on 2005-12-30] Purchased 2 sets @ Off/Depot for $13. High quality sound for the price. Originally intended for home computers but also can be used for external devices like Ipods..
Pretty, But Useless [Posted on 2006-02-10] The only reason I gave two stars for these speakers is because they have pretty blue lights when they are turned on. However, the blue lights sometimes flicker and dim for no reason, or extinguish completely.
The volume control is useless- move it the slightest bit to either side and the volume is either at the maximum or minimum. There is no in-between.
Another problem I'm going to list is that static is a constant factor, and every couple minutes there's a loud popping noise and the blue lights flicker.
This is a very bad product!! Don't waste your money!!
You get what you pay for [Posted on 2007-03-06] What the reviewer below me said is correct. These speakers do seem to be very sensitive when adjusting the volume control. The sub woofer does not seem to have any issues, but towers do. When I just adjust the volume knob it can suddenly have a sharp, static noise come in and out. I have checked the connections as well as various volume controls within the Windows XP and Windows Media Player volume controls. Despite trying different adjustments they just are not "smooth" in any sense of the word. Fortunately I did not spend a fortune on them. Shop around and look for another alternative, because if you are like me and like to at least listen to some tunes when working at your computer, these are not the best option.
