Great Product [Posted on 2008-06-22] Works right out of the box. No hassles. Charges while on and equipment connected. Computer, monitor and external HDs connected to battery backup. Within two days after receiving product, power went out. Unit kicked in flawlessly. Only realized was on backup by the alarm beeping. Unit transitioned to battery transparently. I'm comfortable recommending this unit (CP1500AVRLCD). Can't think of a criticism or downside. Well made and very solid. Checked cost of replacement battery (recommended replacement in 3 to 5 years) and cost is not out of line. Cyberpower's products seem to cost a bit more but after using other brands for a decade now, I'll be sticking to this company's offerings.
Highly recommend this UPS [Posted on 2008-06-24] Bought this at a local B&M for a 52" LCD TV and DVR. I really appreciate the voltage regulation capability for protecting my gear from brown-outs (low line is common during AC season) and the ability to continue recording on my DVR if power goes out during a thunderstorm - haven't lost a recording due to a power outage yet and the DVR (Moto QIP6416) is really sensitive to power loss. Using the surge only for the AV receiver so as to maximize battery time.
Has worked flawlessly for a year now and I am probably going to purchase another one for my new computer system.
Great product! Better price. [Posted on 2008-06-30] I bought this to take the place of an overburdened APC unit. I liked the APC unit but needed something bigger to handle our PCs. Everything APC had was more than I wanted to spend. A friend of mine convinced me to go with this after he bought two of them. While I would have liked to see it a little cheaper it was still better than what APC wanted. I like the LCD panel and the information displayed on it. Even better is the way the LCD goes into "screensaver" mode after a few seconds. That was thoughtful of CyperPower. I only have two minor complaints. First, I would like a few more outlets. Second, I would like the outlets spaced out a little more to accommodate the blocky power cords I have rather than buying adapters for them. It's no big deal, but a nice suggestion.
120V +/- 5% -- NOT!!! [Posted on 2008-07-11] This is my first review on amazon and I wish I could say that a great product experience prompted it but I can't.
The UPS had quite a few good reviews so I had high hopes. It came quickly and the box was in good shape. I hooked it up and played with it - the display was nice and seemed to give useful information. I was at 14% load, had 98% charge, and had 34 minutes of battery time.
I was about to leave it and call it good but, what the heck, I pulled the plug. To my horror my monitor blanked. But it still had power. I plugged it back in. The display came back and the computer was still working. I did it again with the same result. So I went and found my multitester, and saw the voltage drop to mid 80s on unplugging it. I looked at the maunual and the specs were 120V +/- 5% on battery power. Try +/- 25% (on only 14% load).
That seemed pretty bad and at that point I had decided to return it as it was obviously defective but that wasn't what really prompted this review. It was looking back at the pretty display and seeing the claim that it was currently outputting 118V while my tester showed 85V. Needless to say, I think something a little rotten is going on...
Diagnostics a plus [Posted on 2008-07-16] Before buying this product I was mainly looking for a reliable power backup system. After receiving it however I am more than satisfied with it digital readout and display of diagnostics. A+
