I found this dictionary content complete and very inbformative. The descrptive definitons are very helpful in understanding a word. The pictures are also helpful.

As a Reviewer Already Said Before on A Previous Review - Beware of This Dictionary! [Posted on 2007-08-20]
When I bought this dictionary, I thought I would only find pictures with arrows indicating a piece and then naming it, with maybe a more didactical approach. I found instead a "regular" dictionary with random pictures spread over and some contextual explanations on some scientific and historical issues along. Calling it an "Illustrated" dictionary can be misleading, so beware if you think you will find here an "all-illustrated" guide, because this is not. If you want one like this, I recommend that you look for the Firefly Visual Dictionary which I also own and that can be found on Amazon.

As a dictionary, you will find plenty of words (in the range between 150,000 and 200,000) described in the standard Oxford way (pretty straightforward definitions). Printing is made on decent quality paper, pictures are of high definition and pretty well done (like any other DK publication) and its size is quite impressive (you won't want to carry one around with you unless it is very necessary).

The book should call "DK Oxford Dictionary - with Illustrations Included" or anything that would make clear that this is not a picture dictionary. As a dictionary, like any other Oxford, this is a 5-star. As for the deceiving title, it's a one-star, so the mean value is a 3-star.

This is one of the best dictionary I have ever seen. The Oxford dictionary is excellent already and the illustrations in it make this dictionary educational.

Note this is certianly not an encyclopedia as some other reviewer think it is. It's a great dictionary to have.

I purchased this dictionary for my 11 year old. I thought it would last. Well, to my surprise we all enjoy using it! It is very thorough and a beautifully illustrated dictionary. I definitely recommend this dictionary for the middle to high school years but don't be surprised if you find yourself picking this one up instead of the standard dictionary you now use.
All dictionaries should be published this way, it is a pleasure to use.

I purchased this dictionary as a gift for someone who admired my son's copy. The recipient loved it! The illustrations are amazing and a nice addition to the basic "definitions".
