multiple uses [Posted on 2008-11-07] We have used this in our office for several years. Our main use it to create file lables for hanging file folders. The tape slips right into the hanging folder tab and doesn't fall out. This is much faster than a typewriter or computer and looks very professional. The ink has never faded.
Pretty easy to use, label quality is mixed [Posted on 2008-11-07] I've had a LetraTag for a few years, and I am generally pleased with it. It does what it says, and is very handy. There is a reason they really haven't changed much in that time. Inexpensive, fairly easy to use, and easy to find supplies.
Pro:
+ Very portable, would be easy to hold & make labels "in the field" (or the cupboard, garage, etc.).
+ Can print many multiples of whatever label you want- Great for putting your name/phone number on your stuff. Also, you can leave labels in memory (up to the total character limit).
+ Plastic labels last very well- I used those to label light & fan switches in my bathroom, and they still look like new after maybe two years.
+ Fairly easy to use- can go back & split into 2 lines, change style or size, edit text, etc. Lots of features, easy to do the basics.
+ batteries last well.
+ Wide variety of label types available- I've only used paper, white plastic, and clear plastic.
Con:
- Fiddly to type long or multiple labels- but this is mostly a function of the small form factor.
- Paper labels do not last. The writing (sometimes) fades, and not even in intense use or light.
If you are printing labels that don't really need to last too long (maybe a few months or so), use the paper labels. Otherwise, get a cartridge of plastic ones . Since you can switch cartridges on the fly, you can test with the cheap paper labels for size & such and then print your final ones on the plastic.
Awesome!!! [Posted on 2008-11-11] I just recieved my label maker and I am going nuts in my office. I even think I will label the kids, cat and television when I get home. :-)
In all seriousness it's easy to set up and use- definately worthy of a purchase!!
First Label Maker, Good Label Maker [Posted on 2008-11-13] I have never owned a label maker before.
I bought this for the huge monster of wires behind my entertainment center, and my mission to tame it.
It had a learning curve, the on screen display as far as the styles, boarders, and other modifications are concerned, required some referencing to the manual. That is the reason for the 4 stars.
Other then that, this is a great device.
Best Label Maker I Have Ever Used. [Posted on 2008-11-13] This is a great label maker. It is quality made and the labels look very professional. The refills are not so costly to break the bank. It can do many differnt fonts and also print 2 lines. It was a great deal on the lightening deal day and it's just as great at this great regular price.
You will not be disappointed with this item.
