Pretty Good 3in1 device [Posted on 2008-06-24] I had no issues with the installation and it seems like a pretty good ADSL modem and wireless router. The only thing I didn't like was that you cannot use this device only as a wireless router since it does not have a WAN port, you have to use the ADSL connection to use the wireless.
I can't understand why amazon has increased the rate of this device I bought it for $66 last month and now it is $190 which is insane. With such a price tag one might as well buy separate ADSL modems and Wireless routers. Even a search for D-link modems does not show this device, it seems like amazon does not want to sell this particular product. But if you google for D-link DSL-2640B you'll get deals for around 60$.
nice product [Posted on 2008-06-28] I purchased this item to replace a different brand that had been damaged by a storm. It works just fine. I did have a little trouble setting it up, but was able to work out the problem on my own. I would buy another if the need were to arise.
Terrible customer support [Posted on 2008-07-01] Modem stopped working after about two weeks. Calls to D-Link customer service support result in run around. They blame on DSL provider, but DSL is working fine. It is also very difficult to understand the service representatives as they are not native English speakers and must use poor quality headsets for their calls.
Help desk could not help! [Posted on 2008-07-14] I spent 1 hour talking to five technicians and they never got it to work.
I did eventually get it to work myself.
Great DSL modem/router [Posted on 2008-08-18] Purchased to replace old speedstream modem and Linksys WRT54GL router. Setup was a breeze. Setup wizard found AT&T DSL settings and just worked. Seems faster then the old setup although speedtests don't support that. Has been solid so far.
Things to note. Does run hot as other folks have indicated. The wireless range was not as good as the Linksys. Had to add exernal antenna, no biggy. The US firmware is pretty brain dead. However, you can go to the dlink EU site and download the EU english version 4.0. Has more features such as MAC filtering on wireless and static DHCP. Also provides better firewall and port forwarding options.
All in all a very good purchase. Especially when it cost less then 79 bucks.
