Customer Reviews:

Lasted about a year [Posted on 2007-09-16]
This router worked fine for about 12 months and now is unreliable. It keeps dropping the links. One path will work fine while another is out. The links go up and down. When the router is removed the link works fine so it is nothing else in the network causing the problem.

Just what I wanted! [Posted on 2007-12-15]
D-Link DI-604 Cable/DSL Router, 4-Port SwitchIt was an easy choice as to choose another d-link di-604 the only hard choice was should I get a recondition 604 or look for another model that has the ability to change the public and private ports. I believe that call it network port translation or port address translation. This is a very simplified router that is easy to work with. I also like how d-link has online emulators that give you the ability to log in and see what router setup will look like. If somebody would have kept there coffee out of the communication room I wouldn't have needed to get another. I am perfectly content with my 2nd di-604.

Works great with our Macs [Posted on 2007-12-18]
We first tried a Linksys router and needed a lot of tech support and weird workarounds just to get the thing set up. In the end it just didn't work with our Macs, not to mention isn't supported. So I found out which router Apple sells and figured that was a safe bet! Setup was a breeze and it's worked beautifully since day 1 for about the past year. Thumbs up.

Oh NO! [Posted on 2008-04-26]
I was going to try and sell this on Amazon but then I realized how unreliable this product is. I can't sell it because I can't get mine to even work. I had an issue with my cable company for some time, the cable company came out and fixed the cable that was frayed, after that I still could not hook up this router. Now that I have reliable cable service there is something blocking the router from working. I have opened up all channels and made sure even my firewall was off. No internet with this router. POS.

More features than newer DLink EBR-2310 Router [Posted on 2008-05-13]
I had purchased DLink's newer EBR-2310, which worked very well, but it lacked many features that I couldn't do without. The most important feature that it lacked for me was 'static' DHCP IP assignments. As I have a lot of computers, and devices, connected to my network (through wireless AP's), I want to be able to centrally control IP's at one location (router). Plus, many of my non-computer devices require it.

The EBR-2310 is a nice router and I will continue to keep it for something down the road (perhaps a subnet), but it is a shame that it lacked such features that older DLink routers have. For most people, the EBR-2310 is all they need.

As for the DI-604, performance wise, speed tests check out fine. I noticed no difference, testing with a laptop, between going through the DI-604 versus going straight into the cable modem. The DI-604 also works great with XBox360, PS3, and P2P. Port forwarding and virtual servers also work just fine.

If you don't need the features that the EBR-2310 lack, I'd recommend going with the EBR-2310. However, if you do need these features, go with the DI-604. Locate the "E3" version of the DI-604, since it is the last version and uses a faster ARM9 processor. Finally, update your firmware to Version 3.53
