Not for the Impatient! [Posted on 2000-06-20]
Deer Hunter II remains one of my favorite games even as I go through (and quickly tire of) first person shooters, high-graphics flight simulators, and extensive strategy games. Many people find this game monotonous, but with a little patience, you can have an enormous amout of fun. Its beauty is in its simplicity, and even though it has no flashy graphics, it can still be a fun challenge. You can choose your location, your weapons (everything from a .30 rifle with scope to a crossbow to a blackpowder musket), and your accessories (three different calls, binoculors, GPS, scents, sprays, decoys, and more). You can run, walk, creep, hide behind trees, or sit high in a tree stand while you track those deer. There are cheat codes, but I've found its more fun not to use them. The thrill of the game is when you fire off that round and see your kill drop to the ground, or, if you're not so lucky, run off as you miss. Its not an easy task to track down the deer in this game, but persistance pays off, and before you know it, you've got that big buck in your scope. So give it a try, I highly recommend it.

I don't have this game but I know someone who does. This game is so cool.It has deer calls , guns and sents and all that. I really recommend you get this. But if you like to hunt bighorn sheep, black bears, caribou and deer ( 3 different species ) I strongly recommend CABELA'S BIG GAME HUNTER 3.It has 14 rifles, 2 shotguns, 2 handguns, 3 muzzleloaders, and 4 bows and even a hunter safety course !

you shoot deer [Posted on 2006-07-14]
What, do you think the point of the game is to walk around the woods shooting FLAMINGOS? That wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Deer Hunter II is another one of those Christmas gifts that never got much attention. In that respect, Deer Hunter II is like fruitcake. Well maybe not, but it sure is fruity. The code where you can run so fast you actually CATCH UP to the deer is hilarious. You can run up to them, glance over to your right, see the deer running beside you, and shoot them that way!

If you want to play the game normally, you have to sit patiently and wait for the deer to quietly come out of nowhere. It can take a while, just like real hunting. When they're close enough for you to aim your gun and get a clear shot, TAKE THE SHOT!

Provides a little bit of fun. I'm sort of disappointed you can't shoot your own truck, though (it's sitting in the woods- look for it).
