Don't get me started... [Posted on 2007-06-17] Wonderful monitor while it lasted. Owned it for 2 1/2 years and recently croaked. Went off warranty after the first year because I bought it with a new Dell computer and that is what the PC is warrantied for. I was hoping to get 4 years of use out of this monitor.
A green wide stripe appeared on the left side of the screen. I hooked the monitor to a laptop and had the same problem. Then I ran the self check where you watch the box move around the screen and this green block of lines appeared there too. Croaked.
I'll never buy any model of Dell Ultrasharp again.
Great Monitor [Posted on 2007-09-06] I've had this for about 4 years so far and it's still working like a champ. No issues so far; no green stripes and no dead pixels. Back when I bought it this monitor was selling for upwards of 1K believe it or not. But I have no regrets; it has held up quite nicely.
Excellent deal for the money [Posted on 2007-09-24] These monitors are an excellent deal for the money. I have several hundred deployed at my client locations and we've never seen 1 fail.
Less than exceptional [Posted on 2007-10-22] I've had two of these for about a year. Believe it or not, yellow tape inside each monitor started coming loose and slipping down between the backlight and display surface, causing a yellow rectangular shape to appear in the upper left corner of each monitor. Search Dell's web site and you'll find similar complaints (and even photos) from other consumers. Note that several had the same problem with the newer 2007FP.
Dell finally sent warranty replacements for each monitor. The first had problems where certain types of graphics were overlaid with blocky red splotches; the second suddenly developed a huge streak of colored lines going down the center of it, rendering the monitor useless; even powering on/off and resetting to factory defaults wouldn't help.
So at this point I'm waiting to get another pair of replacements.
