Worth the extra money [Posted on 2007-12-14] In the days before receivers with multiple digital optical inputs were common (and not wallet-breaking), I was faced with 4 devices with digital audio outputs and one input. I went through a variety of different switches that I had to search high and low for and ended up with multiple swtiches in the style of the Nyrus SW100. I don't think it was exactly that model, but it was a similar style. I didn't have a single one of them last more than 3 or 4 months. More often than not, the dial would not click into the right position so you had to sort of jiggle the device to get the signal through. Lots of switching wore out the dial over time (I had to use it to switch from TV to DVD to Xbox to PS2, so I'd switch devices a few times a day at least). All of that headache finally went away with this bulky beast from Radio Shack. It's not pretty, it's surprisingly heavy, but it's sturdy and it got the job done for the year or so that passed before I upgraded my stereo. If you need a switch on the cheap, this is it.
