Nice, unintimidating walk-through of DP [Posted on 2005-02-09]
David Das presents a thorough and friendly intro to using the DP interface. I completed all the lessons in about four hours. Each lesson proceeds at a relaxed, but brisk pace, with just the right amount visual and audio movement to maintain interest without producing information overload. David Das talks over the lessons in a relaxed, conversational style, making the learning experience quite pleasant. This CD covers all the basics, and is an excellent supplement to the DP Quick Start guide. It is a great way to experience the DP interface and get your feet wet, before moving on to the CSi Master CD or the more advanced books that are finally available. There is one glaring omission, however. Although you can hear David Das play and record his MIDI keyboard, the Starter CD does not explain how to set up an aux or audio track to monitor your MIDI output through your audio interface. Maybe this is above the beginning level, but not hearing your MIDI through your studio monitors is a show stopper.
