Plug & Play? [Posted on 2000-01-12] I bought this card to add a parallel port because I have a laser printer and a color inkjet printer (it's piggy-backed through a scanner.) I had some conflict problems with the initial installation. The guide helped resolve these. BUT-my laser printer worked with LPT 1 (the computers original parallel port.) I couldn't get the color printer to print right. I tried everything - resolving conflicts etc. Finally, I switched my laser printer to LPT 2 (this new card) and the color printer to LPT 1. Hey, it worked! What was I doing wrong? I don't know. But it's fixed and working. It's a cheap way to add a second printer or scanner if you've got the free slots. Beats the heck out of an expensive A/B type switch.
Novice Users BE WARE [Posted on 2000-03-07] The Digital Research DRPARAL1 Bi Directional Parallel Port Card is a Worderful Addition, for Printers/scanners & Other Multi-Function Devices HOWEVER I DO NOT Reccomend this product for installation by Novice users. Because there are complications Configuring a I/O IRQ Address and Also Jumper Positioning is Cruitial. I reccomend one to read the instruction manual AT LEAST 2X Before starting and keep it handy for installation. It is a LIFE SAVER In the installation process. Once you get past that it is a Wonderful product.
