Compact, elegant and even fun way to track your time. [Posted on 2007-06-01] I have used this software for years, and it's very well done:
PROS:
It's very well designed and thought out. Because it runs on a Palm device, you don't have to fire up a laptop to use it: you simply click on whatever task you're currently working on. If you forget, just "wind back" the clock and do it. Your time shows up as colored blocks on the "see" tab (this is very nicely done), or summarized to the minute on the "sum" tab. It exports your time to Excel if you want. It lets you add little notes to your tasks as you go, if you need more detail. It is full of nifty and thoughtful details that you will come to appreciate. It's just enough functionality without being too much; it's just right!
CONS:
Going back in time and inserting tasks you forgot to record can be a hassle, especially yesterday or last week. The "sum" tab shows dates in DD.MM format, and you can't change that, which drives me NUTS. When you wind back the clock/calendar, it automatically reverts to the current time at the top of each minute (part of what makes extensive corrections a nuisance; stay caught up!). Just occasionally the software locks up, requiring a reset. You can't reasonably retain more than a few months of history; you need to transfer it somewhere else for that. Finally, it only runs on the Palm OS.
Make that DD.MM thing customizable and give me a clock "stop" button for extensive corrections and it would get 5 out of 5 stars. Even so, if you have a palm device, there's probably no better way to easily and accurately track your time, and the interface is so intuitive that it's actually a pleasure to use.
