Behind the door in a sports hero's life. [Posted on 2008-08-28] This book highlights the life of a young college football player and the love of his mother.. It shows you that we make mistakes in our lives and sometimes pride stands in our way in doing the right thing. But, there is those who explot young men and women in sports and they will do anything to make a dollar off of there talents. This book shows that most people are good and it also shows that you can't trust a smile always. A little side note: The author and I have the same favorite college football team,"The Razorbacks". They play in the SEC conference and several football players were mention in the book.
Down River [Posted on 2008-09-21] This book was a selection for our local bookclub. The author was so impressive in his writing style that I purchased a previous book by him.
Just okay, nothing more [Posted on 2008-09-23] This book goes a long way around, not to get very far. The plot is thin and rather predictable and it takes a long way to get there with a rather unlikable and immature lead character who isn't that interesting or real. I found myself skimming over the words near the end and looked forward to it being over with just to begin reading something else. What's more, I never believed any of it--not the characters or their predicaments. Sophomoric effort at best.
Down River by John Hart [Posted on 2008-09-24] After reading his first book "King of Lies', I instantly became a John Hart fan. I must say that though 'Down River' was not as page turning as 'King of Lies' it is still a great book that I really enjoyed reading. It also helps that some of the scenery and State (NC) that Hart describes are familiar to me. I look forward to reading more books by John Hart.
Best Read in a Long Time [Posted on 2008-10-08] I am not sure how anyone could not like this book if they are able to appreciate excellent writing, incredible character development, and prose so good that you have to stop to read it twice just to savor it. This is going into the Halmark of my favorite books of all times.
