Personal Favorite [Posted on 2006-07-03] I know many people have said Driver: Parallel Lines is just a GTA clone. I can't tell you whether or not that is true, because I have never played GTA. I'm just not interested in those games. What I can say is that I've been a fan of Driver since the first release on PS1, and Parallel Lines is now my favorite in the series. To me, Parallel Lines is such a natural evolution for these games to take. It has some awesome missions, many of which are reminiscent of the first game, plus it has an open city to explore. I've had this game for a couple months or so now, and I haven't yet finished, but I still play it off and on. I'm not saying it can't be finished much more quickly, but I'm just not in a hurry to complete it. I've been taking my time and enjoying everything it has to offer.
Overall, I say if you're a fan of the series, get Parallel Lines. Unfortunately, the game does have quite a bit of bad language, but if you're mature enough to overlook that, I think you will have a blast with this fantastic game.
DRIVER IS BACK! [Posted on 2006-07-21] I am very pleased with this game. My favorite Driver is of course the first one because it's a true classic and it has a smoke tire button!!! I hated Driver 2 and i was disappointed in DRIV3R although i did like it better than Driver 2. The Third Driver just felt incomplete like Reflections could've done more with it, but now Parallel Lines is just fantastic. Even though you dont have a smoke tire button you can still get some good tire. But i really think that this one is going to be a classic in about ten years, it reminds me of the first driver but better graphics. Great game. Buy it if you can!
This blows me away!!!! [Posted on 2006-08-11] I think the Driver Paralle Lines game For PS2 is the bomb compared to the two PS game predisessors Driver & Driver2 cuz it has elements of both Driver 2 (for going from one vehicle to another) and GTA Vice City (for the shooter part of the game) , I definately have to give this game high marks for game playablility re-playablility, graphics, & Soundtrack.
I picked up the Driver Paralle Lines Limited Edition(it includes, The Game w/bonus Map of the city on one side and the characters on the reverse side), a bonus materials disc & official soundtrack disc)and you get all of this for the low price of $19.99, but you'd think with all that comes with this game you would think you'd pay upwards of $39.99 or $49.99.
NOT A CHANCE!!
Driver:parallel lines [Posted on 2007-01-03] It's a huge improvement over driv3r 3.The game has more of a G.T.A. type feel, but the play is not as hard core or ethnic based. The cars are more realistic to drive plus the damage factor makes the game much more fun to play.
Truly horrible [Posted on 2008-02-05] This game simply fails to offer the richness of play of the GTA series. In Driver, the buildings are simply scenery to drive around; boxes painted with textures. Add to that some very dodgy vehicle handling and traffic that edges around dumbly at snail speeds, and you have a major problem suspending disbelief and getting into the game. I got bored with it about half way through and gave up.
