I had never played any of the Empire Earth games before, although I attempted it a few years ago. My first attempt went poorly, as I could not get past the main menu screen before the game crashed to my desktop. Finally, in complete exasperation, I sold that copy and moved on to other things. About a month ago, after buying a new laptop, I decided to try EE again. I bought this version of it and installed it on my new computer. So far, so good. Next, I attempted to navigate past the main menu screen. So far, so good. As a matter of fact, I had no technical problems with this game whatsoever. The problem I had was this game sucks. Totally. Sucks. I am not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't what I got. I guess from the reviews I had seen and heard, that this game would be something like Age of Empires (which I love), mainly because some of the developers came over from the AOE series to work on this. Let me just say one thing: childish. Yes, childish. The graphics on this game are childish. They are what I would have been happy with on my Commodore 64, oh, about 20 years ago. I found myself bored out of my mind with this game in a matter of minutes. The graphics are terrible, the gameplay is horrible, and the entire structure of this game is second-rate. I mean, c'mon!!! Since when does a resource fill a giant square in the middle of a forest or a field? At least the resource nodes in AOE and CIV3 are realistic looking. I could not even figure out which resource was which in this game. Of course, it doesn't help when my intitial starting people look like Captain Caveman, either. This game is pitiful and the developers should be ashamed of themselves. My recommendation is to stay away from it and get AOE 2 or CIV 3 instead.
