High-quality & easy to use [Posted on 2007-08-09] This recorder has a clear, simple interface, with controls & menus that are easy to figure out & navigate. The quality of recording is excellent. The built-in reverb settings are well-implemented & restore the "live" feel to indoor recordings, where the subject is very close.
If you use rechargeable batteries, be sure to change the battery setting for NiMh batteries, or the battery gauge won't read properly.
The door covering the memory card, USB port & batteries is somewhat difficult to operate. When it is opened all the way to expose the batteries, it seems a little flimsy.
Otherwise, this recorder is exactly what I was looking for - a high-quality, portable digital recorder, that is extremely easy to use.
Excellent [Posted on 2007-08-29] I like the recorder - I am trying to convert all my audio cossets to mp3 and this is convenient. There are no hissing sounds in the recordings. Beautiful.
The only inconvenience is I have to remove the cover that I got for this (cover is recommended) covers the bottom accessibility of the USP port needed to connect to down load to computer. The power connection is also is also inconveniently located and I have to remove, to remove the cover and reconnect. It is very inconvenient.
But I like the product and it is very useful for recording the lectures, etc. Very good purchase.
Versitile!! [Posted on 2007-11-29] I'm a middle school band teacher. I've had my Edirol R-09 for about a month, and so far I love it. I am in the process of developing electronic protfolios for my students, and this tool has provided me with very high quality recordings that drop so amazingly quickly and easily onto my desktop to be dragged into the kid's folders. I'm also learning to podcast, and this has also given me a wonderful, portable tool to do on-the-spot interviews or recordings for that use as well. It is easy to use, easy to adjust levels, etc. and has been everything I need it to be. When I opened the box and saw it was made by Roland, a company long recognized for outstanding musical applications, I was even more satisfied that I'd made a good choice. And in response to the concerns about the battery door being easy to damage- listen folks, this is a tiny and expensive piece of electronic equipment- expect to treat it as such, and you'll be fine.
Wonderful product [Posted on 2008-02-08] This is a very handy machine, Japan made, good quality, hand on easily. I was told about this product for quite a while...has been wondering. Now I am very glad to have this.
Edirol R-09R 24 Bit Wave / MP3 Recorder, Red [Posted on 2008-05-26] I bought this R-09R was waisted. The dual microphone built in were not working well. they were not pick up any sound unless you speak close to them 3-4 inches away... only one thing I like this was recording and create mp3 file without any conversion software. It was eat up the bettery power badly, unless u use electric power..too expensive to compare with others recording, it was not recording and pick up the sound as they advertising.
