Good, but not the same as the picture [Posted on 2008-02-07] I received the cable in no time at all, far sooner than the estimated delivery. Perhaps if clearav would have spent more time with my order they would have sent me the right cable. I received a 1394 6-pin 6' cable and it works well, but it's black and looks nothing like the translucent cable I wanted; however, it was one of the better prices for this type of cable. I guess you pay for what you get.
Looks good works even better [Posted on 2008-07-02] Bought this to replace a factory supplied FireWire cable that came with an external hard drive. It works very well, has high quality construction, and looks great.
Look carefuly before you buy [Posted on 2008-07-23] I also wanted to buy this cable for my Mac-to-Mac migration. Fortunately I did take a second, more careful look. This cable has "MALE" plugs, Macs have "MALE" sockets (for this kind of plug shape). So I have a question to reviewers who claim that they used this cable with their Macs: how did you manage to connect a "male" plug with a "male" socket?
Conclusion:
The cable itself might even work fine but I give it only 1 star for its deceptive potential for Mac users for whom it is practically useless. If you need a 6-pin FireWire cable for your Mac then skip this one.
Added on Sept. 08, 2008:
Since another customer posted a favorable review I would like to point out that the picture of the cable is quite misleading. The white, translucent cable in the background would indeed be suitable for Mac-to-Mac connection without need for any additional adapters. However the zoomed-out part of the picture showing the plug in greater detail is from a different cable and it would not fit in a Mac. So perhaps somebody could post a comment clarifying what it is that actually gets shipped?
(The picture to which I am referring is from Sept. 08, 2008 and it displays white, translucent cable with a rectangular enlargement showing the plug)
Works fine with my Mac... [Posted on 2008-09-03] Th product does what it's supposed to and it is cheap. Connects my Macbook to my external HD with no problem.
Wrong cable [Posted on 2008-11-12] I've twice ordered from these folks and both times they sent the wrong cable. The prices are so low that it's scarcely worth the time to correct such mistakes, but they might want to pay more attention to how they're filling their orders.
