Customer Reviews:

When it was good it was very very good and now that it's bad, it's horrid! [Posted on 2005-10-22]
My Epson C80 is agout four years old. I have used it for printing photographs and color graphics, but it's a home use printer and I do these tasks about once every two weeks at the most. My computer system is a Gateway with a pentium 4 and I've had absolutely NO issues with the computer. The Epson is another story. The first couple of years it wouldn't talk to the computer. Several times I was forced to remove the software and reinstall. Within the last six months, the color is skewed. I've followed all the recommended processes to get it right and now I get no color and the black is horizontally intermittent. I contacted Epson technical service and the response I got was this . . . [buy a new printer. It will cost more to fix it than to buy new.]. So here I sit with $65 worth of ink for this printer and Epson tells me to buy another one. I'm so aggravated I'm about to go back to a dot matrix and get my photos printed elsewhere. I will not purchase another Epson product.

after four years it went kaputt [Posted on 2006-03-29]
agreed with other reviewrs: beyond four years this thing is simply done with.

Stupid stupid stupid printer [Posted on 2006-04-16]
It looks solid, prints nice, but won't print anything the second that any one of the four ink carts run out. That's right--I can't print in black because the Cyan ran out! In the small town I live in, I have to ORDER THE REPLACEMENT and wait until I CAN PRINT FROM MY OWN PRINTER USING MY FULL BLACK INK CART!

Who does this to their customers?

Great at first, but not worth fixing now!! [Posted on 2006-09-02]
My mother and I got this printer for free when it came with our computer in 2002. The printing results were excellent, but after a while, print setting had to be put on best to keep print quality at its sharpest to prevent white horizontal banding. Prices for ink were okay, but whenever a cartridge ran out, we would have to wait a matter of weeks before buying a new cartridge, as the machine could not print with an empty ink cartridge. Then, starting earlier this year, the printer would cut out immediately before starting a print job, and a box on the screen would say this: "Delete all print jobs and turn the printer off. Remove any foreign objects from inside printer". (Or whatever else it said). Whenever this problem happened, the ink light would flash and the paper light would stay solidly lit (or vice versa). To fix the problem, I would have to uninstall and reinstall the printer and its hardware. But, when the problem was fixed, it would come back almost immediately. It was a reliable printer for quite a while, but it just retired out on us after four years. It is now sitting on a top shelf in a closet. We now have a Lexmark Z611.

The thief of Bahgdad [Posted on 2006-10-29]
How the thousands of buyers of the Epson C80 have not risen up as a group to protest the "duping of America" is a tribute to Epson's ability to control the opinions of the buying public. Few products pursue the "screw the public" attitude with such alacrity.

Today, my printer went South after it informed me that"certain parts have reached the end of their useful life". I haven't printed 2500 pages in the last 2 years.

I wouldn't buy an Epson printer ever again. I would urge all who read this to make their friends aware of the travesty that is the Epson C80, and warn them against dealing with this company.
