Finally! Exercise is fun! [Posted on 2007-12-09] Finally a way to get exercise that is fun -- instead of focusing on how many calories you have burned or how many miles you have run to "no where" on a treadmill, you're focusing on ducking, kicking, and hitting things on the screen ... along with other exercises. It's like having a personal trainer in your living room whenever you want to to him/her on! Make sure you have plenty of space to exercise in though. You need enough room to stand in one spot and kick and hit on both sides of you, with plenty of room between you and the tv. Overall, love it!
Woo ! Feel the Burn ! (>o<) [Posted on 2007-12-29] Wow ! I thought the EyeToy Play 2 was intense you get this game going and you're up for some sweating and calorie burning for sure. It's a great way to shed some pounds and I'm hoping to save up for a bigger TV so I can do this daily cuz I really need to shed pounds and maybe this can help. It's a lot of fun too. I recommend it !!!
Kinetic Great - Don't loose your Lens!! [Posted on 2008-04-01] I love the EyeToy and Kinetic - great for someone like me who needs motivation, but does not like to leave the house and hit the gym.
HOWEVER.... DO NOT LOSE the extra Lens that comes with Kinetic for the EyeToy as you can't get a replacement for it ANYWHERE! Sony has been NO HELP at all. And I just can't focus the camera without it. So very sad - so I am watching eBay for cheap versions of the game, just to get a replacement lens. They REALLY need to make this lens available as an accessory to purchase on it's own.
Fun, fun, fun! (but with drawbacks) [Posted on 2008-05-10] The biggest drawback to this game is that it requires a large room in order to get a good workout. If you stand too close to the camera, then you don't need to jump or reach at all during the game. I solved this problem to some extent by mounting the camera high on the wall and pointing it downwards, but of course that makes the angle a bit wonky.
This game consists of lots of little mini-games, mainly involving bobbles on the screen which do various things, and you either have to hit or dodge. It's more fun than it sounds. It does an excellent job of adjusting to your current ability level and gives you a nice validation of how well you did and how you're progressing.
It doesn't work perfectly, though, whether it's due to bugs or camera problems. A bobble you were supposed to dodge will often get dinged when you were nowhere near it and sometimes you have to hit a bobble over and over before it actually registers. It works more often than not, though, and overall it's a fun way to work out.
Kinetic > Wii [Posted on 2008-10-02] I have used both Kinetic and a Nintendo Wii. In my opinion Kinetic is a better workout than anything on the Wii (not including Wii Fit which I do not yet have). When I first bought Kinetic I had so much fun working out that I overdid it and could not walk properly for a week.
This is a really amazing game, especially when you consider the price. Yes, you will have to spend some time setting it up and it may not work for every room. You are not getting the quality of a blue screen. But at less than $30 for the eye toy and Kinetic and the cost of a playstation 2 this is a GREAT buy. It is a great buy at twice the price. It is so awesome that I want to get a PAL playstation 2 in order to play Kinetic Combat.
