This product is not worth buying. The sound only lasts about 3 weeks. And, if it gets wet, or damp (probably will since it goes on the window), then it doesn't work the same anymore. Also, the bar has to be aligned PERFECTLY otherwise the alarm will sound. After opening and closing your window a few times, the bar will no longer be perfectly aligned. And, your alarm will sound. Really just a piece of junk- Get ADT if you need an alarm that seriously.

This is a truly GREAT gadget!!! We are using 15 of these units in a vacation home in an extreme high-humidity tropical environment in the Far East. The units have been installed for over three months and is switched off and on daily, with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The on-off switch is easy to use with only one hand, with just a little practice. The magnetic contact/latch works beautifully on all of the units I installed, and the alarm volume truly SCREAMS! The unit requires four LR44-type batteries (supplied. I'd recommend this GE magnetic window alarm to anyone wanting a little extra peace of mind for a medium-use household application. Cheers!
