I had high hopes for these speakers. They have two drivers each, and a bass port to supposedly maximize the lower frequencies. The listed frequency response is 40Hz-20KHz, so I thought they might actually have decent bass response.

Sadly, they do not. The bass is virtually nonexistent. Although the 40Hz listing is among the lowest I've seen for a pair of 2.0 speakers, these speakers don't live up to their specs.

Furthermore, the high end is brittle and tinny. The midrange is okay. The speakers also exhibit a faintly audible hum when turned on, which is a bit annoying. They feel light and fragile as well. One of the speakers also has one of those ubiquitous blue LEDs on the front (for some reason, the picture of the product at the time of this writing does not show this). It's very bright and distracting.

I returned these to the place of purchase and picked up a pair of JBL Duet Speakers for just a couple bills more, and I have been much, much happier with them.

The Ultrasonic Pro 2.0 speakers are on par with any pair of cheap PC 2.0 speakers you can buy. If I was comparing them to nothing, I'd give them two stars. But since I'm comparing to other similarly priced speakers, they get just one star from me. There's no compelling reason to buy them over anything else.
