Despite looking and Feeling a bit cheap when I first pulled this presenter out of the package, I was pleasently surprised. This presenter installed without a glitch and has been flawless in working.

I am not sure that I trust the distance of - Up to 50 feet - but if you can stay well under that distance it seems ok. (I had to actually point toward the reciever when I was about 40+ feet away)

The Roller ball is pretty useless when you are using the presenter as a mouse. It is hyper-sensitive. I did not understand why this was the case until I used the ball with my thumb in presenter mode. I really only use the ball when in presenter mode anyhow and it is easy to master. The ball is obviously "tuned" to be used only in presenter mode - but when else would you need it????

I use this product in presentations 1-3 times a week and have had a great experience.

The only thing I would change on this product is - it would be nice to have a rubberized finish on it and a bit "beefier" feel to it. Other than that - 5 stars...

Presenter mouse not such a good 'mouse' [Posted on 2008-01-16]
I have been using the Gear Head wireless presenter mouse now for several weeks. I purchased it primarily for its mouse functions and less as a presenter. As a mouse, it has some pretty heavy drawbacks.

First, the programmable buttons underneath the mouse would be useful if they could be programmed for mouse-mode, but they can't...the programming options are exclusively for presenter mode. In mouse mode, I need only a left-click and a right-click, which are NOT included in the button options! Very weird and fairly obvious. I asked the company if they had any plans to update their drivers to add this capability, no response.

Second, when I put the mouse in its docking station for recharging, it loses its wireless connection. I then have to reset the connection which involves pushing two buttons and waiting for the mouse to reconnect. This is irritating.

On the plus side, it is rechargable, unlike my old IOGear phaser mouse which was more user friendly but not rechargable.

Also, it performs well as a desktop mouse (like hundreds of others). If they could just get the programmable buttons to function as left and right click, it might actually work well as a walkaround mouse too.

Not very vista friendly  [Posted on 2008-02-13]
After purchasing the mouse I noticed it didn't list vista as a compatible O.S. This mouse worked fine at first then after a few days the optical mouse mode quit working. It only worked in presenter or ball mode. I went to their site and downloaded the newest drivers and it worked again but now after a few weeks the optical mode won't work again. The instructions warn that exposing the light sensor on the bottom of the mouse to bright light would damage it. I'm sure that never happened. My office is fairly dark. I will try to reinstall the drivers and the next time I purchase an wireless optical mouse I will make sure it lists vista as an compatible O.S.

I've been very happy with this presenter mouse. It has worked well for presentation and as a wireless mouse. It's also great fun to watch the cats chase the laser!
