Great MB [Posted on 2008-01-06] A very good P35 based MB. Very well made. I am a loyal customer for Asus and this is my first Gigabyte one. I liked the features and the design. Within its category of entry MB, the features set was great, only missed a Firewire connector. The BIOS is very straight forward, however setting the RAM timings was very weird. At the begining I thought this was not possible, I looked around in the manual but could not find something to tell me how? May be it was my bad reading. Then I read a review that mentioned how to do this (just hit Ctrl-F1). Otherwise I am glade to use this MB.
Awesome mobo, awesome price. [Posted on 2008-06-30] For my first PC build I decided to go with this motherboard after reading many reviews and other peoples experiences with it. I was a little nervous at first because other motherboards with similar overclock abilities cost twice as much and more so I had no idea what to expect out of this board. It arrived SUPER fast as usual, it took 2 days from my order date and it came from USPS. I tried to get the board from newegg but they are always sold out because of high demand. There are 2 revisions of this board and I was sure I was going to get an older model because I didn't think amazon pushes many motherboards. I ended up getting the newer revision 2 with a newer bios that supports 45nm chips. If you get an older version of this board with older bios, you may have a problem getting it to POST with a 45nm chip.
I've had my new gaming PC assembled for about a month now and this board is better than I was expecting. It is very easy to overclock within bios (you must press CTRL+F1 at bios menu to access advanced OC menu). I keep my E8400 at 3.5ghz on my stock cooler, once the new cooler comes in I plan to keep it 4.0ghz. Be sure to manually set your RAM\CPU voltage as well as your CPU\RAM\pci-express mhz speed, the factory setting for all of these can be different then what the manufacturer specifies for your part#. Try to stay away from the windows based overclock tool that comes on the software CD, it is seems very buggy and unstable. Assembly was a snap, the instructions manual covers EVERYTHING, including some of the advanced overclock features. I highly recommend this board to anyone interested in a low-cost overclockable motherboard.
