Horrible [Posted on 2008-04-21] I have the fastest DSL offered from AT&T and AVG program slowed it down to a stop. Everytime I got on the internet, AVG started to download something and I had to wait about 20 minutes before I could do anything on the internet or on my computer. I ended up having to uninstall it and buy something else. So my advise is to skip this offer, now I know why you get a 2 year subscription for the price of 1 year.
Grisoft was a good company [Posted on 2008-05-09] Grisoft was a good company that promoted free software, espessially free anti-virus software and that anti-virus software should be free as it is required with Windows to keep it running. So now to see them here with 2 year subscriptions they are just another norton antivirus crook. Raping people who are dumb enough to keep using windows and need anti-virusu software. I used AVG for years and it was good and it was free, now it's shameful for me to say I even downloaded from this company. Use OSX or Linux and put these anti-virus crooks out of business.
AVG antivirus software [Posted on 2008-06-22] I find this antivirus software to be excellent. It has protected my computer from numerous intrusion attempts.
Disgustingly bad customer servcie [Posted on 2008-07-13] I used AVG anti-virus freeware for several years and found it effective. When the company gave notice that they would not be updating the free version, I paid $59.99 Canadian plus $12.00 for a backup CD to upgrade.
I couldn't get it installed and after several tries, I guessed that Zone Alarm Firewall might be the problem, and I deleted it. If I'd had to wait for AVG - I'd have been running without virus protection for a week. That was the response time to my problem.
Recently, AVG warned there was a virus on a blog entry of mine. I checked and there was no listing for the threat AVG detected. By the time I'd found the license number and copied it (typing it was near impossible to get right), the page had timed out. I had no way to exit other than to reboot my computer. I managed to figure out that my hit counter was infected - and I deleted it. Dumb luck - and shouldn't $72.00 a year get you better technical support than dumb luck and managing to figure it out yourself? How about a phone number? A response the same day? How can you trust a company that makes it so difficult to reach them?
I won't renew next year. And I'll be reading reviews of customer service before I buy again.
AVG Anti-Vrius & Spyware Software [Posted on 2008-07-18] Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware 2-Year
I have used it for about a month. I have had no problems so far although I am leary about it since it wouldn't allow me to get the free version. I have a two year license which I thought was quite expensive.
