This printer is fast with high quality printing. Prints the last sheet first, so when you pick up your copies from the tray they are in the proper order. This feature is a first for me, love it. Had a little bit of a problem setting up the wireless to my computer. HP customer service were pleasant and very helpful and got me up and running I am not a high tech individual and later discovered if I had taken a bit more time I could have been able to make the connection myself. The only downside, and we all know, it is the price of the ink cartridges. I solved that problem by using my laser printer for my black and white printing. Buy it and enjoy it!

I've been using this printer for month and love it. Wireless is great! Makes laptop computing in my home much more productive. I bought the printer b/c it was wireless but I've been really amazed by the speed and quality of the output. It is very very fast. I print mostly in draft mode (web pages and office documents) but even in normal mode it is really fast for home use. First page prints quickly. I'm not sure about the paper feed problems some of the reviews have mentioned. I haven't had one problem yet. Wireless set up can be tough for less experienced users or depending on your home network configuration (firewalls, security, etc) but once it is working, it's a really nice printer. Seems efficient with ink usage too...I've been printing a lot and have over 80% of the ink remaining.

For an individule user this printer is great. It can be used as a wireless printer and accessed from anywhere in the house. It is easy to set up, and prints clearly in color or black and white. For the cost what more can you ask for.

I purchased this printer when I discovered that my old, beloved HP Deskjet 710c printer did not have the required USB connection to the new laptop. With the wireless capability of the new printer, EITHER of my computers can now access the printer through the existing wireless network in my home. What I don't appreciate about the 6988 printer is the reduced photo quality it produces on everyday print cartridges, compared to the older Deskjet 710c. Sure, I can buy a special print cartridge, which may improve the quality but that was not an issue previously. Or it could be the fact that I'm asking the new printer to use information from Vista, vs. the W2K I run on the old computer. Lots of variables here. Anyway, it's a dandy little printer if photos is not your primary objective, convenient and economical in price.

Tricky install but it works fine [Posted on 2008-07-06]
I choose this replacement to my recently deceased HP P1000 because of its' wireless connectivity option. It took me too much thought and some careful reading of the brief directions but I got it working from 3 machines in about 2 hours. If you're not a "power user" I wouldn't suggest installing this yourself for wireless printing.

None the less, it prints fine, works as advertised and I got what I paid for.

I use it from Windows XP and Linux SUSE SLES10 (where I called it a "DeskJet 690C").
