Great Investment [Posted on 2005-08-29] I bought this printer brand new five years ago at a pricey $199.99, but it was well worth it. This is the longest I've ever had a printer without it crapping out on me. I've never had a single problem with it. I've had it five years and watched other people go through four and five printers in that same time span.
It's quiet- at least more so than other deskjets.
It's fast- not just with black and white, but when printing color photos as well.
Picture quality is pretty darn good. This printer appeared early in the days of printing your own photos, but pop some semi-gloss paper in there, and it could rival the new photo printers out there today.
The only possible drawback to this printer is the price of the ink. Even today, it'll run you about $65 to replace both cartridges. But that's comprable to other printers out there. And I've noticed that the ink refill kits work beautifully for the black (never tried it on the color). You can definitely save money there.
Overall, I think this is a great printer and it certainly was a great investment.
Extremely durable [Posted on 2006-08-30] I agree with the other reviewer that this printer has been one of the "toughest" I have ever come across. I've had mine for about 6 years now and it's been in and through college, left in storage for two years, dropped from about 7 feet onto concrete from the very top of the pile on the storage dolly, which put a few nicks in the plastic, but it still works like the day i bought it. For an inkjet, the print quality is very good and I've been astonished with the punishment mine has taken with virtually no problems.
