The simple things go wrong! [Posted on 2008-04-28] It's my second HP Officejet in 2 years and again a very small plastic tab (capping station that holds the cartridge) breaks and renders the Offficejet useless. I called HP said it is out of warranty but we could sell you a new compatable one for $200. They also advise buying direct from HP since they are better served and printers are reviewed before shipping and higher quality than those bought in retail stores or online. Now I'm getting mad and asked for a supervisor. They said that none available! I vow never ever to by HP again! This also includes my company who purchased 200 PC's and several HP Servers.
Don't Buy HP [Posted on 2008-05-03] The HP OfficeJet7310 is my 3rd attempt at an HP fax/printer/scanner combo....never again. The sheet feeder is incapable of handling more than 2 sheets of paper and constantly jams when sending a fax or scanning. I do not recommend their products.
Stay away from HP. [Posted on 2008-06-10] This printer was a terrible pain to install the first time around but only after tens of hours with HP's "support". About 1 year ago the printer's document feeder was scanning with multicolored stripes. The printer was under warranty so had it repaired. Brought it home and went through the same hassle except this time not even "support" at HP can figure this out. The scan function will not work from the unit no matter what HP suggests. HP is the most inept company I have ever dealt with. I vow never to purchase another piece of junk from HP. Take this from a household that has an HP desktop, HP laptop and this piece of junk printer. STAY AWAY FROM HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anti-Fax Machine [Posted on 2008-06-24] If you love being frustrated for hours this is your fax machine! If you have an enemy, send them this as a gift. They will be in hell in no time. Simply put...it does not fax, nor does it receive faxes. If you use it for scanning we had problems with it leaving yellow colored stripes on the copies. It worked fine as a printer. All jokes aside, we have had a lot of problems with it and do not recommend. We are replacing ours ASAP!
Good all-in-one printer, software could be better [Posted on 2008-09-03] So far, in nearly three years it's been a great printer for us. We haven't had a single problem with it (knocking on wood) and like it a lot. We do a fair amount of printing and copying and it works great. the print quality for both pure black and color prints is very good. We have had several other printers before and this one is much better than any of the others. I like the fact that it has an Ethernet interface instead of just USB connection. I send print jobs to it from all my computers, it's great. For the price, it's hard to beat -- we paid less than $300 for it.
My only gripe would be the software interface for the scanner isn't the most intuitive and could certainly be better. But it works and scans fine. HP isn't a software shop after all. However, I did not have any issues with installing any of the software like some of the other users. It may be a function of the individual configuration, but I can't complain.
