very difficult software [Posted on 2006-12-25]
including My business locations, and my residences, I own no less than 6 HP printers including two HP All in Ones (7410 and 2500). I like the functionality of the AIO's -fax print scan and copy - HOWEVER HP's software is very sensitive and subject to constant reloads. I lose the wireless ability repeatedly on this as well as on the HP 2500 I own. This is a problem! Speaking with HP Customer Service or internet contact is a joke. They try but are lacking on product knowledge. I love the quality of print and ink printing capabilites of HP but think it is time to try Cannon. My next AIO will NOT be HP.

A printer not worthy of the HP name [Posted on 2007-03-09]
This printer looked great on paper. However, the wireless driver software is full of bugs. It totally locked up my laptop when I installed it. I had to uninstall it permanently so that I could use the std office suite. It worked well from my desktop with wireless connection or a while. After about 1 year of service during one cartridge change it started not recognizing the cartride. That was the end of it. HP support tried to help me, I spent many hours resetting it in many ways, changing cartridges 3 times, etc., based on their numerous e-mail recommendations. The printer never worked again. I have been using numerous HP inkjet printers for 10+ years, without any problem. But after the pain with this 7410 printer I will probably never own another one.

WASTE NEITHER TIME NOR MONEY...7410XI IS RUBBISH. [Posted on 2007-04-09]
SAD TO SAY, AFTER A STRING OF 5-6 UNITS OF HP PRINTER KIT, I TRUSTED THE 7410xi and bought it without research. I have now had the distinction of changing one BLK print cartridge (HP94, for you in the know) and had the machine fail. Repairs, just one month out of warranty, are not worth the enquiry.(Only 1100 pages on the unit.) SOFTWARE CONFLICTS HAVE BEEN A CONSTANT PROBLEM: HPQATRA08.exe driver locks up my Dell E1505/6400 every shutdown. Now, with the Black cartridge reload issue, I'll trash the machine and probsbly HP. TMI (too much info), I know. LOTS of bad design, engineering and supportability going into the HP AiO (their abbreviation for All in One).Don't waste your time or money on US HP kit.
Thinking of other brands with a fax capability - HP no longer qualifies. Their stuff is poorly built and badly engineered. OPCode is buggy/defective. HP has sent SW fixes: I'm afraid to launch for fear of destroying my LAN and WiFi connects.
I run an HP 3310 PHOTOSMART AiO in England-works fine, but is not avail in the US. Printer cartridges are very expensive:2-3x cost of the 02 cartridge set in the US, but compatible.(HP363 cartridges in UK. Ordered by individual colors.) Buy o'seas and support in the US if value and efficiency/supportability are important.

You almost scared me away! [Posted on 2007-04-17]
I'm a new user, and I don't want to contradict others, but so far this all-in-one is GREAT! Right from the start I've had no problems (knock on wood!) I bought this primarily because of the built-in wireless and copying capabilities. I already have two printers (cannon pixma ip6000D - a gift and a Dell 920 - came with bundle and both work fine) but don't have those two things I wanted. I've been looking around and when a local stationary chain had the HP7410 on sale for 50% off I couldn't resist! I read the bad user reviews and was re-thinking my decision. All professional reviews were 80% good and higher, so I took a chance. Right from the start everything worked great. The wireless setup to my linksys router - no problem. Loading the s/w on two WinXP computers, no problem. I've faxed, copied, scanned, printed and all worked as advertised. I haven't tried the photo printing and memory cards yet, but I use the Cannon for photos, so I may not. Anyway, because of the deep discount I felt I could afford it and took a two-year extended warranty (I usually don't). I'll be running the 7410 through it's paces over the next few months. If I come up with anything different from this, I'll be sure to update.

This printer is a nightmare [Posted on 2007-05-01]
I've had major headaches trying to get this product to work. Each time I contact Tech Suport, they point me to a convoluted procedure of deleting registry keys, unisnstalling, deleting files, and finally reinstalling - this exercise takes about 45 minutes and ends up breaking something else. They've had me do it 4 times now!
In my 17 years as a Systems Analyst I've run up against buggy software and hardware but this particular product is hands down the most remarkably poorly assembled dog's breakfast I have ever encountered.

I got it on sale for $200 - and am disgusted with myself for having wasted my money...

This thing is even too light to make for a suitable boat anchor.

sigh....
