A jewel [Posted on 2008-01-28] I bought an HP pc that had a receptacle for a Pocket Drive. I've bought two of these from Amazon Merchants. One was $62 delivered and the other was $58 delivered.
They come in a carrying case that has pockets for both the drive and the USB cable.
Note: you don't need to have a PC receptacle to slide the drive into. You can plug in the cable to 2 USB connectors and you're ready to go. It takes power from the USB connectors.
Note: The photo shows a pocket drive in the background with some other type of drive in the foreground, which I find confusing. You're buying the one behind.
The finish of this product borders on beautiful.
If you have an HP PC, you'll want to get one of these so you have a nice place to do backups. It's also very hand to transfer files from one computer to another (sneakernet).
Great [Posted on 2008-02-08] I've had this product for a few weeks and no problems to report. Works great with vista and is very helpful when transferring large files from one computer to another.
HP does it again! [Posted on 2008-03-31] I bought this Pocket Media Drive because I have an HP desktop with an available Pocket Drive bay. I bought an 80 gb because that is more than I need for my typical file usage.
I had an old computer quit on me and I had the files recovered and stored on this new pocket drive. It is so easy to use with my HP desktop; just plug it in and all of my old files are available. Even without an internal pocket drive bay, this is a simple plug and play device so there is no real configuration or set up.
I now use this as my backup drive as well. I have Windows OneCare Live and it backs up to this drive weekly. If I need to take any files with me on the road, this drive comes with a very nice zip canvas case for protection. I am very pleased with this product.
All Good! [Posted on 2008-07-07] Got the item on the date specified. Product is good and is working fine with no defect. Only cons is the box looks messed up. might be because of the shipper.
HP PD0800 Pocket Media Review [Posted on 2008-07-09] This is an excellent product that I would recommend.
Prior to buying this product, I had been using a 2GB thumbdrive. That fills up pretty fast. So I was in the market for something that had greater storage, portability, ease of use AND not too costly.
This 80GB product fits the bill for me and because HP has upgraded to products with more storage, the price was right. I was still able to register this product with HP, to take advantage of the warranty.
