Nice Laptop Computer [Posted on 2007-06-12] I purchased this for my daughters and it is a good laptop for looking at the web and doing homework. I purchased it from Amazon for about $900 with a rebate. It is worth the price.
HP Pavilion DV2315US 14.1" Notebook PC [Posted on 2007-07-03] So, I really like this computer, but it shuld come standard with more RAM, given that Vista seems to use an awful lot of it! I really like the finish and the size though, smaller without compromising its use as an entertainment PC. While it wouldn't be my first choice if I was looking for something top of the range for business use, as a study/entertainment/travel notebook it does its job brilliantly!
BEWARE Don't settle for this! [Posted on 2007-10-21] I am running Vista premium with 2 GB Ram, and my laptop is still slower than my old HP amd x64. I cannot reinstall windows vista because they did not include the disk. The recommended audio driver fails installation. Video graphics are sub par, wireless is weaker than my old laptop with onboard wireless. DOES NOT SUPPORT MOST GAMES, because of the cheap intel onboard video. The remote control does not work all the time, and does not follow function with windows media player. My next laptop will be faster than this one. Dont settle for this laptop.
Hot, Slow and Poor Quality!! [Posted on 2008-06-04] Pros:
Screen Color, Speakers
Cons:
It's really too hot to be a "Lap" top! And without the AC adapter, the battery itself can only last a little more than one hour, even when no program running.
1GB RAM is too small for Vista. Every time I just feel waiting forever for its boot up (>5mins). And Vista didn't support most of the softwares I have to use. It even did not recognize the brand new Kingston USB Flash Disk. You will have to add at least 1GB RAM for it (actually TWO, because the original sockets were occupied by two 512M ones), or downgrade it into XP (just search "downgrade" in HP tech forum to find out how many people are doing this) to make it really usable.
After fix the software problem, now it's the worst thing coming! The DC power supply on HP Pavilion DV2000 series' motherboard has an astonishing poor quality. At the beginning, it can not wake up from sleep mode frequently; and several months later, it can not boot up anymore! Totally DEAD! After checked out HP website and some technical forums, I found this is a universal problem for HP DV2000. HP already announced a special Warranty Enhancement Program for his Pavilion products. I don't know if they will solve this clearly, or just change a motherboard. I have to purchase a hard drive enclosure to save all my data out. So if you're using a HP Pavilion, backing up all your data is especially important!
I think I will never buy HP notebook anymore. Maybe the laser printer is the only reliable product from this company.
