Great stability and performance! [Posted on 2008-04-05]
Great stability and performance. I use my HP Pavillion dv2000 for audio production and I recommend it 100%.

Light, Stylish and Powerful [Posted on 2008-04-06]
This is an overall great laptop if you're looking for a desktop replacement that doesn't have the weight of a desktop tower. In the past my laptop purchases were based solely on CPU speed, video card capabilities, etc. without taking into consideration the main reason I'm buying a laptop, for portability!!

This time around I factored in the stress my shoulder will bear every day that I take my laptop from my house to the office and back. As far as HP laptops are concerned it is the only brand of laptop I have owned that I have never had any problems with. This time around I decided to stick with HP because of the reliability, the look, and of course the capabilities of the laptop.

An overall great value! The DV2740SE is a feature packed, practical laptop for everyday carrying and use! Love it!! Thanks HP!!!

Customer Support? Right [Posted on 2008-04-21]
A lot of folks have run into problems with HP customer support. Problem is that this is outsourced (shame on you HP). In February customer support had us ship my wife's HP back for repairs. After numerous calls and no update to the website, we were about ready to give up. A local radio hotline show recommended sending a snail mail to higher ups, so we sent letters, polite but firm, with all the details, to the HP CEO and VP of consumer product services. Less than a week later we were contacted by a customer quality control supervisor. My wife now has a new computer. Hopefully this one doesn't belly up on us.

avoid this computer [Posted on 2008-04-28]
I have purchased an HP pavilion notebook, and have had it for a little over a year. First, the wireless internet went out on it, which HP replaced under warranty. Then the speakers went out exactly 14 days after the warranty expired. HP refused to do this under warranty. Then the power button became almost impossible to use, so I basically have to leave it in standby.
A word on the flashy appearance- while it looks really nice, it is acutally a really poor design from a functional standpoint- the slick surface gets uncomfortable after a brief use, the power button is obviously poorly constructed, and the touch pad is uncomfortable as well.
The battery life has been consistently bad. I've now had it just over a year, and I get about 45 minutes on a full charge.
As for customer service, HP is terrible.
However, you don't need to take my word for it- Look at the November 2007 issue of Consumer Reports. You'll find that HP's customer service is rated very poorly, their quality is bad, and that overall, other products are rated higher, and for a lower price.
