HP Pavilion DV63Brand: Hewlett-Packard Binding: Personal Computers
WOWed [Posted on 2007-04-29] First of all, when you first take this thing out of the box, it's very good looking. With the shiny lid, and a sleek look, it's just beautiful.
I want to try to start a pros/cons list, and update it everytime i find something new. Just so you're aware, i got this with Windows Vista Home Premium on it, and it was JUST fine. I was one of those people who was like "I'M GONNA DOWNGRADE TO XP!!" But never, when i use my desktop, i feel old using XP, lol.
Pros:
- VERY good looking
- 1.3 mp webcam
- Nice mousepad buttons
- Touch quick buttons (have a con though)
- DVD writer
- 2 integrated mics
- 2 headphone jacks
- Not heavy (has a con)
- Has a remote (for all the lazy people - only works for media center though)
- Centrino
- Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- 160 GB space
- 1 GB RAM
Cons:
- Quick buttons beep when you touch them, and there's no way of muting them.
- Not light
- Speakers misplaced, when you close lid sound becomes unclear
- Lid is fingerprint hog
- 3 usb ports (i always thought a computer must have a minimum of 4 usbs)
- 1.73 ghz processor
- Short battery life
- Does not have bluetooth!!
That's all i can think of right now. But this laptop is 100% recommended.
Terrible service, nice screen. Don't buy. [Posted on 2007-09-21] Absolutely the worst, most frustrating tech support I have ever encountered. Any computer can have problems. To have to do 4 destructive recoveries, return the laptop twice for service and still have the same problems is unacceptable. Then to be assigned a case manager whose voice mail has no more space for messages is an insult. Finally they give you a phone number to call corporate. It is always busy. It has been 5 months of countless hours on hold and conflicting and uninformed instructions from barely intelligible "techies".
DON'T BUY UNLESS YOU HAVE MASOCHISTIC TENDENCIES.
Looks great but performs slow. [Posted on 2007-11-15] I own this model from HP. One thin g I will have tp say the new line of HP laptops look so sleey and nice. I love the look. However, the computer boots really slow. Part of it may be because of Vista. I have this model with 2 GB RAM, but it still takes a very long time to boot. I have seen Dell laptops with similar RAM work much fater. Other than that the laptop works pretty well. It has built in blue tooth, webcam, wireless, which are all great features. But overall 3 stars!
Great looks, good performance, A very good machine. [Posted on 2007-12-05] I bought this machine because I had a Dell that boke down and had lots of problems with it. This HP performs much better than the Dell I had. It is a bit slower to start but has tons of features, and if you treat it well, it will return the favor. I have no problems at all and it looks very nice. I had several different computers before and all of them stock once in a while. I had the same issue with this one but it has hapened maybe twice since I bought it at the beggining of the year.
I recomend it. A 5 star rating product.
It'll get you through, but that's about it [Posted on 2008-08-23] I bought the HP Pavilion 6345US in mid 2007 and it's turned out to be so-so, at best, compared my HP 4150US ran so great since 2005. But, the 6345 since then has turned out to be relatively a disappointment. It runs really hot, even you load it clean with XP or Vista - SATA drivers on XP are a must - and it performs very mediocre. If you want something to write emails and browse the internet, then this is for you. Anything more than that, you're going to have to deal with occasional Windows stumbling and stirring, as well having something akin to a plugged in George Foreman Grill in your lap.
