Having never owned a laptop before, I was quite nervous about making this purchase just a few weeks ago. I don't have a lot of knowledge of what to look for, but was amazed at the many features that this model offered. Its wide, 17-inch screen is optimal for gaming and watching movies, and the graphics card can handle almost everything thrown its way. This computer is fast enough to take care of the average user, too.
Features I enjoy include:
* Built-in webcam and mic - something I believe all laptops will have soon
* Numeric keypad beside the qwerty keyboard - makes life easy when entering a lot of numbers.
* Lightscribe - allows for direct disc labeling
* Mousepad on/off switch - no worries about hands dragging on it accidentally anymore
* Scrollbar on mousepad - makes for faster webpage navigation
I actually enjoy the mousepad more than previous reviewers - I do not have any problems with sticky fingers, I suppose! Also, the buttons under the mousepad have a great feel to them as well. There are loads of features (some standard, some exceeding competitors) that I have not mentioned because I have not yet benefited from them.
Overall, this is an excellent machine! I do agree with the reviewer who said it would be nice if one or two of the 4 USB ports were in the back, rather than having them all on the sides. But if that is the lone complaint on such a reasonably-priced machine, HP is doing quite well for themselves. If you're looking for a laptop and don't mind one that's a little bigger and heavier than some of the compact models out there, then this one is for you!

An overwhelming laptop experience with fluid processing speed, fast internet navigation and downloading and last but not least splendid images and graphics. AMD's Turion makes all the difference!!

I rated it 1 star because it won't allow me to rate it lower than that. i got what i paid for. got it last Nov, less than one year. it can't power up anymore. Never see this in any other laptops I have used. Wait, this is not all. I am not the only one whose is busted. My friend followed my footstep and bought the same model around the same time. Guess what? you got it, same problem. wont power on. Mother board busted. Mine is on its way to Fremont now for repair. I am sure it's mother board problem as well. This really changed my view about HP products. THANKS A LOT!

La compañia me envió el pedido en cuatro días, vino completamente bien sellada en su caja con todos sus documentos. El precio es estupendo les recomiendo comprar a esta compañía son muy diligentes. Todo el tiempo supe donde estaba la computadora y cuando llegaba. Estoy muy contenta y agradecida, la necesitaba para dar clases en la universidad. Gracias.

This laptop looks great on paper and runs well for a wile but everything is uphill from there. I have owned this laptop for a while now and I have had many problems along the way.
First off I had to take this laptop to a repair shop to have the motherboard replaced because all of my usb ports stopped working after about three months. It was under warrenty so it was ok. After the repair the 10 key never worked the same. Once you accidentally bump the number lock key then you have to leave it off or the poilkjmnb keys turn into the 10 key and you cant type and use 10 key anymore.
Secondly the battery life is terrible even for a 17".
Thirdly mine runs VERY hot. The fan in the back left corner has been so over burdened that it has worn out and makes a lot of noise. It is way too hot in my opinion than should be tolerated from a mobile processor.
Finally the dvd burner combo on mine pops out randomly while you are sitting there. I have no clue why.
This has a dual core processor but it doesn't take much to slow this pc to a crawl. Itunes, word, and firefox is more than it can handle.
Overall this computer was not as good as my gateway laptop that it replaced which was 3 years older and equally priced when it was new.
I would not recommend this PC.
