Simply Marvelous Machine For The Price! [Posted on 2008-01-17]
I purchased this laptop on christmas day and received it today jan 17 (last estimated delivery date... cuttin it a little close... whew). Anyway, it worked great out of the box. It has all the specs listed above and is more then sufficient to run most of the modern applications and entertainment media including games. I've tested guildwars so far and it runs without so much as a hickup. I will be trying out oblivion shortly as soon as pc cillian is finished installing.

As for the machine itself, I was actually surprised to find that there was a fingerprint reader and remote control included with the computer. Neither of those were listed (from what I saw) and both were part of the system. The screen is a little dimmer then I'm used to, but it's excellent in general. Vista will definitely take some getting used to, but it can only get better. It's aero interface runs perfectly and looks decent. The system only shows that 3 gigs of ram are in use, but digging deeper, it displays 2 sticks of 2gigs each and 3 gigs are running the system while 1 gig is running the graphics. So it is all there and functioning. Full size keyboard and the mouse touch pad works better then any other laptops' touch pad that I've tried. I will be testing the wireless this weekend or next week. I suspect it will work fine.

All in all, for the price, this machine is above and beyond expectations. Thanks HP for this great product and Amazon's supplier, Techno Intelligence, for the price!

I purchased this HP for work, but I also use it for some personal use. It has worked well with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop editing movies and large files. It also connects to a HDTV with a HDMI out and has three well placed USB ports and a firewire port. The audio controls on the keyboard are easy to use and the fingerprint reader is useful for making sure financial information is kept more secure.
My last laptop was a Vaio but I am satisfied with the switch to the HP Pavilion. I have a similar Pavilion desktop and I've been satisfied with running Vista with all the 2007 Microsoft and Adobe software. With 4GB of ram, I've had no problem multi-tasking on this machine, and the price makes this laptop affordable and quality. Not to mention, it's an attractive machine as I've gotten complements from my co-workers.
So far, the only negative thing I would mention is the glossy screen. It's a little bit annoying if you sit next to a window.
