HP Psc 2210 All In One Printer Scanner Copier Fax

I bought the HP PSC 2210 xi about 2 years ago, and for a short but precious time it worked really well at printing, copying, and faxing (I never used the scanning option). However, after a few sweet months it completely stopped functioning. At this point everytime I would turn the printer on, it would start making loud, jarring noises as if something were caught in the cartridge. Needless to say, the only option was to listen to the loud choking sounds or to unplug the unit. (As a disclaimer, I should divulge that I have a long streak of bad luck with printers.) I took the printer in for servicing at MicroCenter but sadly they just docked me $70 or so to test the printer and respond that they had no idea what to do (I asked for a refund, but was told that the testing cost the $70, not the fixing of the printer). I called HP concerning the problem, and instead of offering a solution or a location that would competantly service the machine, they offered me a deal on another HP printer (C4280 - which I can't seem to find a reference to in Amazon) for $100. The problem is I'm not sure how this compares to the $300 model I bought 2 years ago! Long story short, maybe this is not the best printer to buy - especially seeing as HP's solution to a simple problem is to replace it! Has the life expectancy of printers been reduced to less than 6 months! Anyway, it seemed to me like a really bad sign. Anyway, good luck with your printers! Lord knows I need some.
