works great! [Posted on 2007-10-04] I was a bit hesitant to buy this product, but I needed to boost the actiontec router (FIOS). It works great! I get drop signals without this, now I get 4 to 5 bars and does not fluctuate. Instruction is pretty easy to understand and installation is a breeze. Just take the antenna off the router, assemble the booster, connect the cable supplied in the box to booster and router, power up and you're done. I set the booster at 200mW. The only downside so far is the high pitched sound coming from the booster...other than that this product works!!!
Wireless Home Ease! [Posted on 2007-11-05] Bought to extend my wireless network in a 3700 SQ FT home with lots of Brick & corners. 100% Signal Throughout, Including Back & Front Porch. Easy to set up if you read other recomendations, prev. posted.
Save your money [Posted on 2008-01-15] I was trying to extend my network and make it more reliable in its coverage and this signal booster seemed just the thing. It only has 2 major flaws which make it totally undesirable.
First, IF you are able to increase the signal from your wireless access point, your computer's signal will not be increased at the same time. What does this mean? You can see the wireless network, but it cannot see you. In other words, the logic behind this device is flawed.
Second, I tried installing the signal booster anyway, and it brought absolutely NO increase in signal strength -- no matter how high I mounted it. I recommend looking for a hi-gain antenna instead.
It's simple and it works. [Posted on 2008-03-02] Connect the booster to your wireless router's antenna plug, plug the booster into the power adapter, and it works. It significantly increases signal strength with the other wireless computers in your network. Very simple. No drivers. No complicated setup.
The manual (at least now) does clearly say to hook it to the router.
Two boosters, both shipments died quickly [Posted on 2008-07-13] The first time I ordered this, it boosted the signal reasonably well but died. As in the entire unit stopped working. I replaced it from Amazon, and just over the 100% return period, that unit died as well. We're now adding Cat1 wire to our home. So I've had two different copies of this device fail within 3 months. I would not recommend it under any circumstance---save your $85.
