Customer Reviews:

Good game but way too hard. [Posted on 2008-03-06]
Let me start by saying that I have never played any of the other HoMM games, I just got into this one after getting hooked on the demo. I really love the game concept and enjoy the addictive chess/fantasy/strategy aspect of the game but so far it is turning out to be way too hard, even on normal difficulty. So far I have only been able to make any progress in the campaign while on easy and that is actually not any fun becasue it is not even close to challenging, but when I go up to normal it suddenly becomes insanely hard. I will give it some more time before giving up on the game in frustration because I think this game has potential, but buyer be warned.

great game for strategy lovers [Posted on 2008-05-05]
I've played every one of the Heroes of Might and Magic titles including King's Bounty back in the early nineties. While I'm not yet done playing the entire game, this expansion adds enough elements to make it the most fun installment I've played. The addition of a third tier of monster development adds a huge array of stategy decisions to the game. The only downside (as with all the Heroes V games and expansions) is the difficulty with the computer bogging down periodically no matter how great of a system you have. Great game for strategy lovers and newcomers alike.

Heroes of Might and Magic V "Tribes of the East" [Posted on 2008-05-16]
Very enjoyable game to play. Has everything the newest version has, plus you don't have to put a disk in every time to play. Makes you wonder why they do it in the first place doesn't it? Cool magic. cool artifacts and they list all of the items to get specialty artifacts that get put together like in HOMM 3. Great fun, Great game.

Frustrating [Posted on 2008-05-30]
I'm a long time fan of the series (Started out with King's Bounty back in the days)and I've enjoyed most of this expansion.
The last part however is extremely frustrating and you have to resort to cheats to win it or start all over again.
I have no problems with a high difficulty but it's totally inconsistent.
One map you breeze through and the next is so hard that few people are actually able to win it without cheats and a lot of luck.
If you don't want to replay some (large) maps then I suggest you read the wallkthrough on Celestial heavens and adhere to it.

Great game. [Posted on 2008-06-29]
A new faction is added to the Heroes V series, the orcs. But in addition to that there are changes made to several of the other classes, with the most notable being another entire set of upgrades to choose from (ex. skeletons Upgrade to skeleton archers OR skeleton warriors). This is for each type of character.

Leveling up heroes is a bit different in that you can follow a certain path and gain a special skill associated with that path.

Minor grammar errors that tweak my nerves a bit, but no big deal.

I play the hot seat mode with friends when we are just hanging out sometimes. The online mode is good as well, but a bit bogged down at times, which may be my computer.

There are many ways to play this game and so it has a good amount of replayability, which is loved in any game.

This is a great game to play.
