hated it [Posted on 2006-01-24] I don't understand why Upisoft is marketing this game when they have Pacific Fighters and IL-2. The later two games are far superior to Heroes of the Pacific. HoP has a squirrely flight model and in every other way is inferior to Pacific Fighters. It's not worth the trouble at half the price!
What were they thinking? [Posted on 2006-01-28] I surely don't know what these two other reviewers were thinking.
This game is great fun, has an "arcade" or "professional" flying model, thrilling missions and great multiplayer option.
It has great sound and fantastic graphics. I rate this a straight-up 5 out of 5.
Great Fun...if you like the genre [Posted on 2006-02-02] Ok, so I've played this game for a little while and I will just give it a 3 out of 5. THe game is good, personally I liked a lot more Combat Flight Simulator 3, great graphics for the time, a wide selection of planes, German, British or American, including "secret planes" or planes that never reached WWII. But in this game, it seems that they focused more on a less realistic experience, and go straight for the action instead. It could have been a fantastic game, if they just added nicer graphics OMG we're in 2006! . If you can spend the money, and you like the genre, give it a try!
Great game [Posted on 2006-02-25] Someone here said there is no speed control for the planes, well i found one, its really hard to find though, you know thing like reading the control menu or taking the basic flight training DO show right away how to slow down and speed up the plane, but i could see how some poeple would not understand a game if they dont try to play it.
I have just finished playing this game for 5 hours after buying it and i am very happy. Its a great shot them up and have doing it game, no 20min flight trips to shot one bad guy then runing home, this is flying with 50 other plans in the sky, AA flack shoting at you, ships shooting at you, plans shooting at you, and you only have to be at 3 places at once to win the mission. Too much fun, the controls took about 15mins to get good with and after that its smooth flying from there, i like flying in arcade mode, with harmaztion (not spelled right) on the tight setting.
over all great game, this is no flight sim its a action packed fly by the seat of your pants ride.
Want to have fun? [Posted on 2006-07-14] I know that choice of game is highly subjective. But I happen to love this game more than any other WWII flying game. The graphics are great, and the fun level is superb without being ridiculously difficult. You don't need to read a 700-page manual to get these planes off the ground. The game is intuitive and pure raw fun to fly these babies! I also find the game to be solid, with fewer bugs than most games I play. If you like Crimson Skies, then you may also love this one.
