The product was defective right out of the box. A 1/8 by 3 inch section of the display was inoperative and blank. I had to send it back, at my expense, and apparently they have sent me a new product at their expense. I'm out the cost of returning the defective product. I wouldn't buy from this dealer again. I also would not buy via Amazon again because the order was delayed by Amazon for almost three weeks since they didn't forward the order to the dealer, or so the dealer said. All in all, not a good experience.

Worthless piece of C*** [Posted on 2008-02-14]
Purchased this item and within one day it failed. First the item as shown in ads and photos everywhere including on Amazon and the manufacturer's website makes it appear as if it is a bright display. It is not. The display read-out is black but the screen background is muddy green/gray which makes the contrast abysmal. It is advertised as "backlit" which it is NOT (there are a few LEDs that light the front of display which only worsens the contrast. Half the time the LEDs didn't work anyway.)

After not working properly despite careful installation, I finally got it to work... so I thought. It immediately failed. The read-out was incomprehensible: all broken numbers and words, and unreadable. Then it failed completely.

I took out the batteries (which supposedly are only for back-up power)and reinstalled them. They were new batteries. The second set I tried were new batteries. The read-out worked for 10 seconds and failed again.

Received calls were not displayed. The dial-back feature certainly did not work (with no ability to see received calls, dial-back was unavailable, of course). The call waiting caller ID did not work either.

I did everything possible all to no avail. I contacted the manufacturer directly and they did not respond at all (customer "service" is something they do not understand or care about).

This item would have phenomenal potential if it was designed properly (better contrast and true backlighting). It would be even better if it actually worked.

The seller refunded my purchase price and shipping (but not my return shipping back to them). So I lost money on the purchase.

CLASSCO should rename itself CLASS-LESS or NO-CLASS.

(By the way, if you look at the Jumbo GE Caller ID display as an alternative- do not bother. I also bought that and within a week it would click repeatedly in the middle of calls and the display is pathetic. It is now in a landfill. GE would not help and had me call their subsidiary which was a waste of time.)
