GE Smart Home Devices [Posted on 2007-10-03] While I use many of the GE Smart Home devices, as they all have great
application.... This I like most from a safety standpoint. As a former Crime Prevention Officer, I highly recommend this item, along with an associated component for safety reasons... When I come home at night, with a click of ONE button (as I enter the driveway) I immediately have
three (3) exterior lights activated.. Once inside the home another flat-plate styled unit (placed on a coffee table) is used to turn the lights out. Really cool too. The button in the car and flat-plate can either turn the lights on or off.
the key chain remote control [Posted on 2008-06-05] This remote WILL not work with the newer GE remote control devises !!! it will work with the older ones. I am a little unhappy about this !! I called GE and they said It wasn't their problem ??!!
Don't mix and match [Posted on 2008-06-16] Worked well for what I wanted it for once I got the right transmitters. There is SmarHome and SmartHome Plus, don't mix and match. Buy all of one kind, SmartHome Plus is the newer version. Usually sold in pairs 1 each (transmitter and receiver). I wanted one Receiver and 3 Transmitters making it much more difficult to find. I got a mix of SmarHome and SmartHome Plus from 2 different venders, they weren't compatible. So buy all you get from the same vendor and make sure they are compatible before you buy. Stanley makes a similar product for less but is harder to find, around $15. for a pair.
The wall switch works much better [Posted on 2008-11-13] I bought several from different sources. None work very well. The furthest they reach for me is about 15 feet. And more often, about 2 feet. To make matters worse... I have the signal repeater that is supposed to increase it's range! They don't work very well. I can get about 30 or 40 feet with the wall switch and the repeater combined.
