not worth the hassle [Posted on 2008-06-18] I was a norton user for a while, but all I kept hearing was how bad it was. So when it came time to renew my virus protection I decided to try this. After downloading the trial I NEVER had MORE problems with my computer! EVERY time I went to run this product my computer froze half way through the application.
And trying to use the internet while this was running NO CHANCE, NO WAY, NO HOW that only made it worse. Once I found the time and a chance where my computer did not freeze up, I removed it from my system.
Couldn't get it to work at all!! [Posted on 2008-06-21] I bought the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 because I was getting sick and tired of Bit Defender. I had several programs that wouldn't run while it was enabled. After reading some very favorable reviews of the Kaspersky product and the fact that it had a decent rebate on the 3 PC user version, I decided to try it. What a hassle! It wouldn't let us complete registration at all. We emailed their tech support service (which by the way was actually pretty decent)and they sent us various links and/or suggestions to get it done. Finally, after 5 days, we got it completed. However, NOTHING WOULD WORK! No email, no browser, nothing! Back to tech support and so it would go for two more weeks. They were very helpful in sending various removal tool links etc. They also decided that we would benefit instead from the 2008 version (this box contains 2007)so they sent us that upgrade. No help. Another engineer there said they decided we should try the 2009 version which supposedly contains the fix for this problem. They sent us that link. We could access our browser briefly but still no email or other applications.
After 3 weeks of back and forth, they offered us a full refund. We did try everything we could to make this work but for us it was a no-go. This was with Windows XP on the system.
This product sucks [Posted on 2008-06-27] I can't believe anyone likes this product. I must be completely retarded, because I find this the most user unfriendly computer product I've ever owned. Everything I try to open - Windows word, excel, Mozilla, Media Player - Kaspersky flags as a threat and blocks. Then it's up to me to allow it or not. Then it blocks things which I have no idea about, I don't even know what it's trying to block. Now what? It blocks everything, so now I have to be the one to decide which is a true threat, if any, and which is not. BTW, I removed my PC Chillin Illin whatever it was and all other programs that supposedly bother Kaspersky, and it still occurs. Also, 3 weeks after buying the program new, every time I turn on my computer I get a message saying that my anti-virus might be out of date and I should take some action, renew the software, spend money... It's 3 weeks old for Chrissake. I didn't get a degree in anti-virus protection. If I had, I wouldn't have the need to buy software that does the work for me. This software is like a having your local policeman not allow you to leave your home. Yeah, you won't be a victim of crime, but you don't leave your house either. Just unplug your computer and don't buy this software; you'll save your money and get the same result.
Its great!! [Posted on 2008-07-02] This anti virus is so much better than norton. It runs sscans much faster and seems to protect better. Will never use anything else!!
Bad Scene [Posted on 2008-07-06] This is the worst piece of software I've ever used, and I've been at it for almost 25 years. I loaded the software and it screwed up my computer, so that it took me about 5 hours to get it to boot up. When it finally booted, almost none of my many applications would work, and almost all of them had to be reloaded. I'm still not finished with that and I've been at it for over a week. Now, would you like to know how I really feel? :>((
