Excellent device - now even better! [Posted on 2008-04-09] I have had several presenters over the years, to include a previous and similar Kensington unit. The previous Kensington I had worked great, but was a pain when it came to battery replacement - it used a difficult to find coin battery and a very small jewelers screwdriver. The new unit uses readily available AAA batteries. The new unit also has a finish that provides a better grip and is more comforatble in the hand. This unit has excellent range and functionality.
Highly recommended.
Just what I wanted [Posted on 2008-04-11] Works perfectly with my Mac. Great range. Love the way it shuts off when you store the USB in the handheld. Used it with a Windows machine as one of two different presenter tools. Work great for team instructing. Works just the way I want it to!
Great Laser Pointer [Posted on 2008-04-14] This laser pointer is very user friendly. Had no problem what so ever with it connecting with our PC. Buttons very easy to use. Had bought different one that had a small wheel to advance pages on a Powerpoint presentation and that wheel was very tempermental. This laser pointer worked so much easier and has great range.
Makes presentations look professional! [Posted on 2008-04-16] I had used one of these presenters before because our Toastmasters District Leadership has one. I purchased the Kensington 33374 with Laser pointer for several reasons. First, the dongle stores inside the unit and turns it off to save the battery. Second it is simple to use, no software drivers, etc. You just plug it into a USB port and go. The buttons are simple, forward, backward, B Key and laser pointer/F5.
I've used it several times at work now and it allows me to walk around the room while advancing the slides. It makes me look like a professional speaker.
The only negative thing I can say about this unit is that they combined the F5 key, which starts a PowerPoint presentation with the laser pointer key. This means that everytime you use the laser pointer, you are also hitting F5. This works ok in PowerPoint, but in other software, it does whatever F5 does in that software. In Word or Excel, for example, it brings up the Go To box. This makes the laser pointer pretty much usesless in anything other than PowerPoint.
Overall, however, this is a super product.
Does exactly what it should [Posted on 2008-04-20] This is a great product. It feels great in the hand, and it's easy to identify the buttons by touch. It works great out of the box using Keynote on my MacBook, and others have used it for Powerpoint on an XP machine without any problems.
